Greetings fellow Jayco travelers!
Just wanted to say thanks to all of you inmates for such a great resource...just upgraded from a 23FB (with no slide) to a hard-walled 24RBS with both upgrade packages and the information in here has been quite valuable!
Got the trailer home and having done some research previously on here, jumped right in to doing some upgrades; first was the additional bed pedestal support. We have a full queen mattress from our previous trailer that we use instead of the stock Jayco mattress, so with that and both of us not being tiny folks, it was a priority. That "T" pass-through has now been walled off, providing extra support so we don't "meet in the middle" as it were. Somewhere down the road, due to the heavier mattress, I'll probably fab in a small door at the front or right side end of the pedestal to more easily access the under bed storage. The missus has been having fun trying to figure out what goes where...at least it's not "I don't like the couch there....can you move it over here???"
Upgraded to a better WD system as the old Eaz-lift with the chains had more than a few miles on it...so the mighty Ford V10 with air bags shouldn't have any issues towing the new unit down the road.
Hinged the hot water heater door, fabbed up some more robust partitions under the sink and just did some general "quality control" tightening and inspecting end to end inside and out...want to eventually plumb in a wall switch in the bathroom for the fan, as the boss is a bit "vertically challenged" to try and reach the switch on the overhead.
Question for you 24RBS owners....the rear "kitchen" slide out with the stove and sink...how often do you actually use that? Reason I ask is that the son-in-law works as the parts manager at an RV dealer (where we bought the unit) and he mentioned that he had heard tales of the water connections leaking from pulling that slider drawer in and out. I got to thinking about whether (or how much) we'd use that and if removing it would provide some extra storage space for some lighter items (like folding chairs, etc)...
Any other suggestions and/or issues that any of you might have would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
