Hello

Hey folks, I just joined and looking to purchase a travel trailer and I’ve settled on either the 174BH or the 171BH.
I’ll be towing it with a 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro.
My first question of which I assume will be many is, can you negotiate on new travel trailer?
That’s it’s for now I guess. I post future questions in the appropriate sub forum.

Welcome to JOF. The short answer is yes you can negotiate in the correct market. Right now the demand way outpaces the supply so it may be hard to beat down a MSRP much. Be prepared to try.

A year or two ago 30% or more off was considered ok. Now, I would think closer to MSRP.

Look for these items:
How long on the lot? Longer is better for you.

Does he have more than one of that size or model, the more the merrier.
Do any of the competitors in the surrounding area have the same model or similar, competition reduces the price.
Don't tell him you can pay cash or have financing arranged. He may plan to make money of financing, get your price in writing then talk financing or tell him you have it arranged.

Listen and nod and smile when he talks about lifetime paint or fabric protection, extended warranties, etc. Get the sale price in writing then tell him you aren't a sucker (politely, LOL).
But odds are, near MSRP.

Hopefully, others will tell you that there are deals out there and where. I drove 175 miles for mine for a better deal (20% less than local) and immediate delivery. Consider that and shop at least by phone and then maybe a few road trips.

Good Luck!

I have been looking at the 171BH which has an MSRP of roughly $43K depending on options. I have found three in stock in this part of the country. All were priced between $30K-$33K, which involved heavy negotiating. Each dealer originally thought they were the only one but when I mentioned there were three within an 8 hour drive, they sharpened their pencil.
