Hello All!

Just stopping by to say hi. My DW convinced me to sell the house, most all of our belongings, and take our 4 and 6 year old children on a 2+ year trip around the country. We are only about 6 wees in but, so far, life on the road is amazing! We originally were not considering a Jayco but my DW fell in love with the 387RDFS.

As I am finding, the laundry list of issues we are having with the rig are not uncommon. I have been running in circles trying to find information on fixing things while on the road since the soonest any service facility can get me in on the west coast for warranty work is over a month away. There seems to be a whole lot of very knowledgeable people on this forum so I signed up to hopefully get some help.

Looking forward speaking with you all soon.

Welcome to the forum. Congrats on the camper and good luck on your 2+ year trip. I have children but can't imagine trying to live on the road with little ones... I would need to triple tow an enclosed trailer to take their toys lol.

Wow, my hats off to you guys. I can't imagine taking a month long trip with 4 & 6 year olds, let alone a 2 year trip around the country in a travel trailer. You sure have the explorer mentality. Congrats and hope all goes well!

Congratulations on the new rig and welcome to the group! You are on the trip of a lifetime and the dream of many of us.

Post some of your "Laundry" and we may be able to guide you through getting some of it straightened out without outside help...

Hello to the 4 of you! Welcome to the JOF and congratulations on the North Point.

Keep us posted on your trip - some of us are envious and some of us can't imagine even trying it with youngsters.

Congratulations on your new Jayco NORTH POINT 387RDFS and welcome to the Jayco Owners Forum. You have come to the right place for answers to questions. Additionally, congratulations on your decision to begin a two year journey around the country. This is an experience all four of you will never forget and will be an incredible experience for the two little ones. Look forward to hearing about your experiences.

Thanks everyone!

So far the kids are loving it. We had to liquidate our non-profit before we left town so my girls donated most of their toys in the process. Don't get me wrong, my living room is over-stuffed with barbies and princesses but they are enjoying being outdoors much more now.

We have only made it as far as Northern CA so far but the weather here compared to Phoenix is fantastic. We are continuing up through OR and WA, then back down the coast, through Phoenix and will be wintering in the mid-west. I know, there are much better places to winter but we have family in MO to stay with and will continue our travels in our truck until the snow melts.

Again, thank you all for the warm welcome! I look forward to seeing you all around here.

CONGRATULATIONS on the JAYCO!!!

...and WELCOME TO JOF!!! The members here are GREAT!!! There is a lot of GREAT information to be found here. I am sure that you will have information and pictures to share with us... so please do!!

You mentioned that you will be spending your WINTER in the mid-west. Are you going to be living in the TT while up there or are you going to be living in with the TT, in the cold of the winter?

Hi Don,

We are planning on staying with family through the snowy months and will winterize the 5er. We will continue visiting people through those months but will not be hauling the rig with us.
