Hello from Chicagoland
Hello everyone and thanks for letting me join you group. I have been camping with my children for many years and just last year my wife and I bought out first together camper. She likes camping so much we have already traded our 2011 Sportsman 35BH for a 2012 Jayco 351 RLTS 5er. I towed like a dream with my 2011 F-350 shortbox, but we have traded that off for a 2012 F350 LB for a better tighter turning radius. One thing I didn't do was measure for the hitch pin height of of my old truck to make she I was at the proper height on the new truck. DOes anyone know what that height from the ground to the top of the hitch plate should be?
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Welcome to the forum! We live in Carol Stream about 30 miles west of Chicago.
I am hoping since this was posted in July you got the problem taken care of?

Nope. I will be hooking up next weekend and towing to the Yogi Bear in Millbrook for a couple of weeks.. I will figure it out while I'm hooking and unhooking till I get the height I'm looking for.
Welcome to the forum as well.

The 5th wheel hitch height above the ground is not as important as the clearance above the bed rails (should be at least 6") and the need for the 5er to be within an inch of level when hitched up and loaded for travel. If you have these right, the total height will be fine.

Yogi in Millbrook is our favorite (right now). We were just there last weekend for a party for the Jayco dealer I bought my TT from (Holiday Hour in DeKalb). Kids always have a blast and don't want to leave.
Must be nice to be able to go camping for weeks at a time. We are lucky to get a Fri - Sun. Have a great time!

We also buy our campers from Holiday Hour RV. Good honest dealer to buy from. We will be at Yogi Bear for 2 weekends starting on the 12th and leaving the 21st. Then winterizing and taking back to Cortland for some minor warranty issues.
We have a full time place in Wisconsin on a lake and they close on the 14th. , but we think there is time for more usage this year.

Howdy from Central Illinois. Not ready to put the unit up yet. Going to be in Effingham for at least a week, maybe two. Getting work done on the Moose Truck. Enjoy your stay at Jellystone!

Thanks. We have missed the last 2 months of camping due to health issues, but are trekking out to Wisconsin this weekend, then to the local Jellystone. It's only 15 minutes from my house, but I have to take a detour as my camper is 13'3" and the bridge is only 12'6". Hmmmmmmmmmmmm More speed would make it...LOL
Enjoy your time in Effingham.
