Hello from Omaha

Just bought a 166FBS and looking forward to the weekend. Last had a TT about 10 years ago so we will relearning towing and setup. Solar is new to us so that will be interesting. Maybe another panel and some lithium batteries in our future. Our TV is a 2016 V6 Colorado.

Have you added a second solar panel? Went with ground panels (in Arizona, so want to park the RV in the shade as much as possible) for our 166fbs. Haven't yet been able to find out if the "solar on the side" is wired through the solar controller or direct to battery (tests on port show 12v current, so it is connected to something). So for now we have the ground panels tied in with the roof panel (using MC4 Y connectors).

UPDATE: Don't do what we tried above! The weakest panel always drags the system down! So your ground panels in the sun are limited by the rooftop in the shade. We reconfigured to use our Solar-on-the-Side port. That port is not connected to the factory installed charge controller, but comes connected directly to the battery. We ended up connecting our 2 Coleman 100w panels to a Renogy Voyager charge controller (20amp PWM, waterproof) hanging on the tongue. Significant improvement! Haven't seen any problems with having the two charge controllers working in tandem, although there are some inefficiencies involved with having two charge controllers. But much better results than mixing the panels on the same controller.
