Welcome to JOF. I assume it's a Jayco, which probably also means Gayle Kline. What are you getting? We just picked up our new Jay Feather 23RLSW from them 3 weeks back (just before the blizzard).

Roger

hey thats funny i was at Gayle Kline looking at their used stuff the day before the blizzard! We ended up getting a 2008 jay flight 26bh, but not from gayle kline though. They seem like a good dealership. The salesman was very informative and not pushy. Congrats on the new 23RLSW.

Thanks Gone campin. We live a few minutes away from strasburg. Can you recommend any good spots near there? We are planning a few weekend trips as close to home as possible until we figure out what we're doing, (we are TT newbees) and also to try and lure some of our non camping friends to join us.

DW and I just got our first TT back in Oct. 2104, and we loved it so much that we upgraded to the 23RLSW for the traveling we would like to do.

We did a Thousand Trails annual membership, which covers several nice campgrounds not far from Lancaster. The basic membership gets you 30 'free' nights, and additional nights at $3/night. Circle M in Lancaster, Gettysburg Farm, Hershey, and PA Dutch near Manheim are all included. We've spent the most time at Thousand Trails Hershey. www.thousandtrails.com.

Again, welcome!

Roger

Being you got a used one who was the dealer? I purchased my 04 from Saunders.
Yogi Bear in Quarryville is rather nice although I haven't been there. I go to the one up in Milton. Starelite is good and also Spring Gulch

Kind of depends on what you are looking for... we are still looking for a "great" campground in the area. White Oak isn't bad, but some of the spaces are tight. Pequea Creek is off the beaten path and quiet, but not fancy or full of amenities - there were a lot of transient workers (pipeline and power plant) staying there; however, they were all quiet and courteous when we stayed there. Many of the places near Lancaster are too "commercial" for our liking...

Since you are from the area, I would say drive around without the TT and check a few of them out - most will let you drive through and look. Make note of any particular site #s that you like for reservation purposes.

Going close to home your first time is a smart move to get you comfortable with everything...

Check the dates on the tires Make sure they are not more than 5 years old and even then consider new tires Check on e-bay Discount Tires Direct Maxxis tires They run special deal every so often. Also look into replacing the T/stat for the heater I switched mine to a Honeywell RTH111b found one on e-bay for under $10.00

The thing I didn't like about RV Value mart was I found them to be way over priced and then all the extra they charge for that most dealers have included. Looking at your model and on NADA I hope you got a good deal.

Xcav8er,

Welcome and congrats on the 26BH!!!

Check all appliances, water pump, faucets, etc... Look for any signs of water damage along all walls, starting at the floor up to the ceiling. Check the roof. All drawers/ cabinet doors/ shelves/ etc... Basically everything from the coupler (tongue) to the rear bumper.

As mentioned, check the tires!!!! Trailer tires do not age that well due to all the sitting they do. It is suggested to replace trailer tires 3-5yrs.

Probably should check and go through the brakes and wheel bearings, since you don't know if the selling dealer did or the last time the were gone through.

Should be ok with the F150, but verify you are within all the specs of the tv (tow vehicle). Make sure you get a good wdh (weight distribution hitch) with integrated sway control. Reese Dual Cam, Reese SC, and the Equal-I-Zer 4 way system are all very good for the money. The Dual Cam is a little more finicky setting up than the other 2. The Reese hitch head (both the DC and SC) allow for a little more fine tuning in regards to the wd bar adjustment. And even though the dealer will set up the wdh, chances are you will need to re-adjust it once you load the trailer up for a trip. Here is a link to wdh set up and how a wdh works.

Good luck!!!
