Hello, From upstate NY
I've been camping all my life, Went cross country in the back of a truck camper in the mid 70's. When I got married we started out with a tent , then to a TT. When she left me with 5 kids. I bought the Jayco 5th wheel! Love it. we travel all over the north east, but mostly the Adirondack's. We also do Civil war reenacting with the 125th NY Vols.

My favorite? That would be tough to say. The ones we like the most are Eighth Lake,Limekiln,Northampton Beach,Luzerne,Brown Tract Pond and Moreau. In the Catskills we like Keneth Wilson and North South Lake.
We prefer the State Parks over the private campgrounds as I don't like campsites that are on top of each other nor do I like to go to campgrounds that have seasonals.

One of the great things about the Adks. is there is so many campgrounds. I've never hit most of the ones mentioned. I'll have to start exploring more...

Your exactly right and I've enjoyed all the ones that I've been to. We camped 33 weekends last year so we like to change it up so we don't get sick of one particular campground infact we also go to Vermont which also has some nice campgrounds.
We are starting this weekend at the Rip VanWinkle campground just outside of Saugerties on Blue Mtn.Rd.

Last year we started the last week in March but due to snow still on the ground and the weather this year we're a couple weeks behind. Oh well......
