Hello from Vancouver Island!

Greetings All, just stumbled onto the forum and though I'd join in the fun!

We have a 2017 Jay Flight 264BH "Baja Edition" we picked up last year that we enjoy. Not our first trailer (and actually a bit smaller then our last trailer) but a great rig for the area camping / RVing our family does. We usually get some time in at local RV resorts with friends but also spend many weekends at beachside / lakeside provincial and forestry campgrounds, its not boondocking by any means but there is no power and water at those types of sites and often a gravel road is involved.

I have already rebuilt the main bed and replaced all the mattresses. Had to rebuild the couch assembly as it was coming apart and modified the interior partition wall a bit (all looks stock if you didn't know what it looked like before). Future plans include some drawers under the dinette seats and a couple solar panels. Also considering cutting in another roof vent in the dining or couch area (if I could figure out where to safely cut) it's rarely hot enough we need the AC here and the extra light & ventilation would get well used, I work in Building Envelope Rehab for a living so sealing everything up is the easy part.

Having issues lately with inverter / converter (not sure which yet, haven't investigated ) everything is functioning but the fan on it is almost louder then the furnace and kicking off and on about every 60 seconds when on shore power (15A, haven't been able to test it on 30A yet)?

Here to see what I can learn and hopefully have something to contribute from time to time.

Happy Camping!

-N

Greetings and Welcome from Northern Ontario. This site is a great resource with plenty of information about RV's, as well as information on campgrounds facilities.
We are hoping to make the trek to Vancouver Island this summer, depending on COVID shut downs.
Enjoy the 264 Baja.

Only went to Vancouver Island once and it was beautiful. Not sure we can make it back ( old age and border closures).

Did the need to ferry make a difference in your choice?

Not really in our case, it was more driveway limitations / trailer storage. We might take the trailer off the Island once in a year if we're going on a week+ long RV trip. We do LOVE the Washington / Oregon Coastline and have travelled it a few times.

Summer is a very busy time for work so most of our trips are only in the 2-3 day range and with our 2 little kids and we can pick from the 40 - 50 spots within a 1 - 2.5 hr drive of home without having to get off the Island (we're usually heading somewhere with a beach it seems).

With the short trips and the kids it's always lots of outdoor time (and usually outdoor cooking). August & September are our only super dry months around here, March - June we plan for rain and July can be hit or miss. I usually setup extra tarps or pop-up canopies outdoors to keep us out of the West Coast Weather and the 26' still has space for us all to get warm and dry. We'll drag the trailer starting in March thru to October before putting the it away for the "winter" which is again more (& colder) rain.
