Hello from West Point, GA.

Hi my name is Joe and I'm from West Point, GA,

I am new to this forum and new to Jayco. I never had a truck camper before or any other for that matter and just got and OLD Jayco Sportster 8 to put on my 1969 Ford F-100. I don't know what year it is from but the poles that crank the popup from the outside flip to be the jacks also. I don't know if this was a modification or came that way. It has 2 on one side and one on the other. All the appliances have been removed. It has no dinette just a bench seat and overhead bunk area that you can put an air mattress for now. I don't see a special forum for truck campers so I hope you don't me joining.

First thing I would like to start looking at is a battery system. Right now the 6 way prong on the front of the camper has had it's wires cut. It seems the previous owner is running the 12v wires (right now for 2 inside lights and one outside light) through a "Portfolio Outdoor" transformer normally used for outdoor lighting. The 3 prong hookup cord is black and looks heavy duty. it runs to a receptacle where they have put a 6 outlet. Running from there is an extension cord to a power strip. I plugged it up and believe it or not the lights and power strip work....LOL I would like to series 2 6v golf batteries in there and have some sort of charger that when I do hookup it would charge the batteries. I also have an old Honda 400W generator that I could use to charge them in a pinch. I don't want to go crazy since it's my get started camper. Any help for a basic systm would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Joe

Hey, that is a really cool rig you have. It will bring a great deal of interest and questions when you use it in campgrounds. Be prepared!

Welcome to the JOF. There are alot of helpful and experienced folks here.

I'm sure you have the only Jayco slide in pop top here!

Post more pictures when you can and don't shy away from asking questions.

Hello Joe and welcome to Jayco Owners Forum. I agree with Boss Wagon that you are probably the only Jayco slide in on this forum. Please post often and keep us informed on how your modifications are going. We're glad you are here.

Hi, Joe.

Welcome to JOF.

I'm sure your camper is a rare one. The flip-up jacks are pretty nifty.
