Smile Hello - total Newb here

Hello all. My hubby and I just bought our first camper. It's a 1987 JSeries 1206. Super excited to take the kiddos out and be done with the whole tent thing. Yes it's a pop up and old, but structurally in good condition. I plan on redoing all the cosmetics as soon as we get to above freezing temps here. Excited to be here. Any advice - I'm always open!

Welcome to JOF,

Pups can last forever if well maintained so age is not a factor if that's the case. Wife and I were super excited to have one, we put about 7k Kilometers on it pulling all over the East Coast of Canada, Maine, VA, Ontario..and sold it after two seasons. We are in our 50's and found the setup a bit tedious although Miles ahead of setting up Tents/Kitchen Tents etc. The Pup was great for us and I'm sure your entire family will love being up off the ground. DW and I are into our Second Season now with our X20E Hybrid which I'm sure may be your next move. LOL

If a single axle PUP you have, try to find a Used BAL Leveler. Makes leveling a snap and was/is something I miss being able to use now since my Hybrid is Dual Axle.

Some of my best camping memories were when we had a popup and used to go for 2 weeks every year in the NC mtns.

Ask away on questions, My most important priority was getting the beds comfortable.

Congratulations on the new-to-you trailer and welcome to the forum. Lots of us began with tents & popups.

Give the search function a try for the JOF site and you'll find lots of information that may help you with trailer MODs etc.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new tent-trailer. We started with one ourselves and really enjoyed it. Happy camping!

Congrats!!!!

Congrats on the pop up, my fist camper was a 1993 jayco eagle 10 pop up. I have always loved camping but before buying a TT I wanted to make sure my girlfriend would enjoy camping before making the upgrade. Mine was in excellent condition and I never had any expensive maintenance issues in 3 years and I'm sure you will experience the same, enjoy!!!
