Cool Hi from Wisconsin...for now

We're picking up our first-ever fifth wheel tomorrow - a 2019 Pinnacle FBTS - as part of our plan to sell the house, store some stuff, donate/give away a LOT of other stuff, and hit the road for a few years.

I know there will be bumps in that road, but I'm looking forward to not having to pay property taxes, utility bills, homeowner's insurance and the everpresent maintenance costs associated with owning a home. I know they'll be replaced with new bills, but they'll be smaller, and we'll have the freedom to rack up those bills in all kinds of new places.

I can't imagine how it was for those folks taking on this daunting adventure in the days before readily available information in the form of internet forums, blogs, subreddits and the like. My husband and I have been stuffing our brains with all the research we can find, while shedding our "stuff" and plotting our path.

We hope to see you on the road!

She need any furniture? LOL It's been pretty overwhelming trying to empty and remodel and stage the house - I just hope it sells fast. It's a fairly distinctive house for the area and I think my family is only the third owner - been here 51 years. It's hard to imagine leaving this place, but it's also hard to imagine why I hung onto this copper chafing dish for so long, as well...

Congratulations on the new Pinnacle and your new path!

Back in the day about 40yr ago, DW and I sold everything (no house) and hit the road in our converted van. Back then, our travel information was 'state of the art'; we had our local library, AAA Tour Books, maps, and National Geographic. It was the trip of a lifetime.

Today we're in the middle of our plans to do it again! We've got lots to unload and plan to be on the road and 'homeless' as the calendar flips to 2020. Yet another trip of a lifetime!

I grew up in Kewaunee County, WI, haven’t been back in a long time. Although there’s things I miss about the State, I learned a long time ago that everyplace has its pro and cons. Enjoy your new journey!

Congrats on the new Pinnacle and welcome to JOF. We escaped corporate life 2 years ago, sold our house in Slinger and been happily houseless since. Summers in Black River Falls and winters in South Texas.

Most “stuff” was sold, donated or handed over to the kids but we did keep a few odds n ends. We’re starting to purge those odds n ends and think we may be down to only a couple totes soon.
