Horse waaaay before the cart

I have yet to buy truck or 5th wheel. We just decided on a GMC 3500 Denali with Duramax diesel and Allison transmission. We figure we can haul about anything with that. We are leaning toward a sub 32 foot Eagle Jayco. I will be fully retired in 2 years but in the meantime I'm taking more and more time off.
I had a kidney transplant last year (thanks to my wonderful wife who sacrificed one of her kidneys to keep me around) so we plan on getting out of town when the winter inversions set in and when the summer heat turns on.

I'm extraordinarily inept at fixing stuff (long but funny story) so we are buying new. Fortunately my wife is VERY handy so between us.... we shall see.

You are ahead of the game in this case. Better to have the capabilities of a Clydesdale than a Shetland pony. At least this way the trailer is a whole lot easier to shop for. From PUP to large fiver, you are good to go. We started the a 3500HD for our Northern Lite, so when we chose to add a TT to the stable we didn't have a whole lot of limits to what we could tow.

Happy Camping

Congratulations on your tow vehicle, kidney transplant, and welcome to the forum.

So, is the song you sing to your wife, 'I've got you under my skin.'?

Sounds like she is a keeper! better be on your best behavior or she might toss you back!

That truck should be able to pull almost anything, except the ultra big 5vers that need a dually.

Sounds like a great plan. might have to pick up a camper a little early so you can start getting use to the camping seen.

Best of luck!

I'm on my second Duramax/Allison combination, and they are excellent! First was in my pickup we used to pull out toy hauler full of dirt bikes and a Rhino. Sold those, and we now have the older Seneca, which has a bit later version of the same drivetrain. Yours should have even more Hp and torque than either of mine. So, it should pull a house. No pun intended.
