Howdy from Nebraska

Hello all - You must forgive me, I am totally new to travel trailer camping. My wife and I just purchased a 2021 Jayco Jay Flight 1545BH Baja edition. We pick it up in a few weeks. As a child I camped with my family in a pop up and spent a lot of time camping in tents when I fought wild land fire. My 7 yo girl loves camping and we decided, why not, let's get a travel trailer! I know about camping but have no idea what we just got ourself into with a trailer! Anyways - hello!

Congratulation on your purchase and welcome to group. I would plan a shake-down rv adventure nearby and soon after you get yours. Perhaps a weekend in it at home, then a local or closest state or national park... or a local lake sometimes, just as long as you get a chance to check it out and not be too far away in case anything comes up on the first adventure. ~CA

I really appreciate the advice. We have a lake that is ~3 miles from our house with some nice Walleye. You can bet we will be taking advantage of any warm days!

Have a great week!

Howdy from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
I used to fly spray planes out of Grant, NE for Steggs Aerial Sprayers back in the early 80's.

On our trip out to Yellowstone this summer, we will be staying at the Kearney Buffalo County Fairgrounds overnight.

You will really enjoy learning from this forum!

I appreciate the welcome. I'm in North Platte, but know Grant well. Thanks again and take care!

Welcome to the Forum from Western New York State! Congratulations, and we're glad you've joined us!

Take your time doing a PDI at the dealer. Have them explain everything about the set up and operation of the TT. Take notes, and even videos on your phone as you go. It's also a perfect time to have them fix anything that needs it, preferably before you sign papers. If there's anything you don't quite understand, ask again. This is YOUR time.

We're always here to help with any questions that pop up.

Greetings from Northeastern Colorado. We enjoy camping in many locations in western Nebraska. We hope to experience the bird migration in Grand island this spring. We love our 2014 Jayflight 19RD. We have been given outstanding help and advice on this forum. Maybe we will meet you somewhere in our travels.

Congratulations! and welcome to The Forum!

I lived in Lincoln for many years, and go back occasionally for some pheasant hunting. I spent a couple of days at the Cody museum & campground a few years ago. Had a great time, and found the museum absolutely fascinating. Nebraska has an abundance of state parks, recreation areas, and wildlife management areas that have fine campgrounds, with great fishing and hunting. Hope you can get out often!

Happy Camping!

Welcome From OHIO!

Welcome to the JOF firewxman! TT's are a bit of work anyway or size you slice it. Hitch, tow, set up, water, sewer, propane, electric, and take down, the same processes no matter how big or small the unit. But it's the built-in conveniences that you now have as a benefit over tent camping. No need to wait for the tent to dry out before breaking camp. Any question you have about your experiences can be found here on the forum.
