Howdy from Tennessee
After the last 7 years in a Flagstaff I just traded for a 2016 Jayco 28BHBE. I needed the bunks for my grandchildren who usually accompany me. I've wanted a Jayco for years as I think the craftsmanship is very good. A close friend purchased a Jayco just after I bought my Flagstaff and I was always looking at it in envy.
I am now retired and single after losing my wife of 46 years to cancer. I was a park ranger with Tennessee State Parks for 30 years, and after retirement from the state I returned to school at the age of 55 and obtained a paramedic license, one of those things on my bucket list. After 5 years of that I decided I'd had enough and fully retired.
I like to travel with my camper. I've visited state parks in both Tennessee and Virginia, but my favorite destination is the Outer Banks of NC. I usually stay at Camp Hatteras.
Looking forward to exchanging thoughts and ideas with the group.

rmtaxman, First welcome to the group. And, My condolences to you on your Wife's passing. I too am a medic and am getting ready to retire in a couple years. The wife and I have friends that relocated to Morristown TN. and absolutely love it. I am currently searching online looking for something small hopefully on or near the water. Just her and I and three Labs.......LOL

Congrats on your Jayco and welcome! Although I lay my head in Indiana for the past 14 years, home will always be in East Tennessee. I was born and raised in Kingsport so I know the Jonesborough area well. This is a great place to ask questions and share experiences. People are friendly and always willing to help. I would like to hear if you have recommendations for camping the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia.
Keep campfires burning.

Only parks I've visited have been Hungry Mother, and Natural Tunnel. They are both near my area. Can't recommend Hungry Mother since even if you have a reservation you are not assigned a site. You pick one when you arrive. When I got there on a Sunday afternoon all the larger sites were occupied by 16 ft trailers and I was forced to wedge my 27 ft into a site designed for a 16.
Natural Tunnel lets you pick and reserve the site you want. No surprises on arrival. Very interesting site to visit. It's only an hour from Jonesborough so its even closer to Kingsport if you need to catch up there.
Check out Roan Mtn State Park in Tennessee. I was a ranger there for 22 years and can highly recommend it as long as you stay in 1A-17A or 1-20.
Hope to meet you sometime.
