Introducing ourselves

My name is Jack; wife's Hollie--we bought our 1st RV in July'09. It'a a Jayco Eagle Superlite TT 298RLS. Love the RV even though we've had a few problems that hopefully will soon be repaired. We live in Saratoga Co.,NY; near Saratoga & Lake George,NY. We've been camping in the Adirondacks & the Hudson Valley areas. I'm semi-retired (retired in 2007 after 35 yrs., contract to same company as a part time contractor/consultant) so 3-4 day trips are nice. I'm also a ham radio operator (WA2RJF). We just adopted 2 basset hounds & have 4 grandkids. Hope to share experiences with fellow Jayco owners.

Hiya Jack and Hollie! Welcome to the forum! Will you be taking your 4 grandkids camping with you? That is one of the reason's that we sold our Casita to upgrade to the bunk house Jayco. We have a fourth grandchild on the way (due end of December). The oldest two camp with us now, but it helps having extra room for number three who will start camping with us next summer. We definitely have room for number four now when she is older!

There are at least two other "Ham" operators on this forum.... Leeman, and One Country Boy. Hopefully they will post and say hi also!

BTW - what are the probs you have with the new tt? Just curious as we also have had a couple of warranty issues arrise.

Hello Jack and welcome to the forum. The call here is W4EWA, in the Florida Panhandle. Glad to have you on board. We are monitoring Hurricane Ida. She is suppose to come through here in a couple of days.

Thanks for the welcoming--the issues with the Jayco 298RLS are some water condensation in a cabinet due to the exterior speaker letting cool air into the sink cabinet, leak in another upper cabinet at the rear due to the "end cap" not being caulked correctly. The slide was out of adjustment & damaged the carpet; slide gasket also has to be replaced. Also had a bad outlet & the DVD unit didn't work (fixed myself) I had to contact Jayco directly after the dealership dragged their feet (2 months). Unit now is going back to the dealer on Nov.19 for repairs. Regarding the grandkids, they have been camping with us already; so next year we'll have a full summer of fun!!!

Hope that will all be resolved ok. Hope your dealer will follow through. We're still dealing with some issues so the verdict is still out on our dealer and their follow through, but we have hope
