Lost in luxury
Greetings! . New RV RN. 2016 Greyhawk. Set up leveled, tires off the ground. Book says that's a no no. Camping world said it's OK. Is it? Hooking up my city water? The hose does not bend so I can't get it connected to the city water inlet without bending it to a 90 angle. I guess I need an extra fitting. does anyone have a suggestion what type of fitting? Should it have a pressure gauge on it of any sort? I have been here all of 40 minutes and I'm already stuck.

Wheels off the ground? I have a TT but a friend with a motor home tells me that is a huge no-no and no manufacturer he has heard of suggests doing it. Those with class As and Cs will chime in with first-hand advice.
The is an adapter that will make the transition for your water hose. Your local CW will have it.
Absolutely on a pressure gauge. I position mine first in line at the water spout. You can get away without it for a long time but if you hit a park with very high pressure the result can be very serious. They are not too expensive. The one I bought is certified lead free with a gauge just because a guy can't have too many gauges. I use a disposable water filter, too.
Check into surge guards. While much more expensive than a pressure filter I think they are good insurance.
It is a process and not a cheap one either. Enjoy!!

Welcome echobravo64. You will find lots of good advice on this forum.
Ditto on the 90 degree hose adapter, the pressure gauge, and especially the surge protector (check into the Progressive EMS which gives much needed electrical system protection).
Happy RVing,
Jeff

Can't help with the wheels issue.
Is your city water connect in a cargo hold type space? If so, just leave the door open for now.
I purchase in the plumbing section of my local home improvement store, in the brass fitting section is a true 90 degree hose fitting. This takes the pressure off the plastic city water connection. I figure it is less likely to be broken and make a mess inside my HTT.
In the garden section you can buy a 75-80 degree fitting, and it should work too, but I liked the quality of the solid brass one I found in the plumbing section. I keep my pressure regulator between the 90 degree elbow and the hose. Many others like the pressure regulator at the hose bib, to protect the hose too.

Definitely a no no for the rear wheels and not recommended for the front.

Welcome! If the leveling system is lifting wheels off the ground in auto mode, you may have to use manual mode and get close to level that way. There is a calibration mode for the auto mode in the owners manual or online, it may need to be redone.....We are also in the Roanoke area, PM me if I can help further!

While I prefer all tires on the ground, not all sites can manage that and get the coach level enough for the fridge. However, I do not want the rear tires off the ground because they are the ones locked by the parking brake. If the front tires are off the ground a bit, I am not too concerned.

Welcome to JOF. Do not recommend any wheels off the ground, particularly the rear ones. Keep a set of leveling blocks in your RV as a back up when you cannot level the RV without keeping the wheels on the ground.
