New first time TT owner of 2024 210QB

Hi everyone!

We will be receiving our 2024 Jayco 210QB next weekend and we are really excited to start using it.

This is our first time owning a travel trailer and I was very happy to find this owner's forum! We are very much starting at the basics and would love to hear any tips about this model that others might like to share.

It will be mostly my husband and I travelling along with our two dogs. We are nearing an empty nest (late 50's) and are looking forward to doing some hiking, fishing, kayak/canoe rentals, bike rentals and taking some day trips into the local surrounding towns.

We're in NW Florida and plan to start off sticking to campgrounds fairly close to home.

You have some nice state parks in the state and in your area and in the panhandle. One of the best with full hook ups is Blackwater River State Park. This will get your toes wet, so to speak and not stress out for setting up and figuring out your equipment.

But along the big bend area is in Sopchoppy. Warning the natural growth tree limbs can be a bit tasking for backing, and navigating around the low hanging limbs , but worth the effort. If you have a kayak its right on the river and an easy walk for the dogs to the small beach area if your dogs like the water.

I always suggest that new rv owners start out in their driveway for a night or two , if possible and get familiar with your unit.

Welcome to the Forum from Western New York State, and congratulations on the new 210QB!

We have the same floorplan in our 11 year old Jay Flight 19RD, except it's 2 feet shorter with a corner bed.

The addition of a towel bar or two in the bathroom above the toilet and a coat hook rack somewhere near the door would come in handy, but we don't have a window forward of the door. I also fashioned a door stop high up on the wall where the bathroom door swings up against. That keeps the knob from hitting the wall.

I haven't had the opportunity to see your model but look closely at the pantry shelves for rigidity. Some other models have needed bracing up better.

We have added a wine bottle rack in the bath for rolled up towels, and a wine glass holder under the shelf above the rear dinette seat. *

Take a pad and pencil along to jot down things you'd like to add, bring, leave home, or do to it to make it your own. Don't be in a hurry to do everything all at once, as things change over time with personal experiences.

Enjoy your new memory maker!

As far as a towel rack, we bought a regular house shower curtain rod that's adjustable width and turns to tighten up after you expand it out to the walls across the top of the shower. This works great and dries towels quicker than regular towel racks mounted on the walls. Our skylight over the shower is like a heat lamp of sorts when there is direct sunlight. Plus the thicker rod keeps the wet towel sides away from each other, where air can flow on each side. this seems to dry them quicker and without any stale smell for reusing them.

Congratulations! It really is exciting to get a new trailer. I too just picked up my new Jay Feather 22rb just a few weeks ago. I live in CT and don't really do winter camping, so I just dragged it home, parked it on the side yard and have been messing around with it since. My first booked trip is May, but I'm considering an earlier outing in April.

I still work full time and will use the camper on my time off. It's me and my young teen daughter who do the camping. She has autism so activities are limited for her. We have a large 2 person side by side battery assist trike we'll be dragging along with us. My husband, well...he's a day visitor, as he is not comfortable in a camper.

We just upgraded from a 9 foot pop-up.

Congratulations and Welcome!

Thank you! And congratulations on your 22rb! Like you, we plan to put our TT in the backyard. As suggested in this thread, we'll probably keep it in the driveway the first couple of days to test it out where it's nice and level to make sure that we know what we're doing .

I'm sure that you and your daughter will have many fun trips together. Your husband might see all the fun you two are having and decide that he wants to come along. I know it must be hard to wait for the spring! We're in Florida so we should be able to do some camping soon - the Blackwater River State Park is fairly near us and I'm excited to check it out!

Welcome ! I hope you know that FL state parks book up very quickly and checking Blackwater for some dates it is full. Welcome to the "I will book up my reservation as soon as possible" club. 11 months from your intended camping date. Blackwater has a few openings during the week if that works for you.

We like Ochlockonee SP but its probably not great for first time backer inners as the oaks are many and some of the backing up is tricky due to low hanging oak branches. Its great for biking and canoeing. Not aware of a rental. We just bring our bikes and store them in our 212 qb and the kayaks are on a rack on the truck

We have the same rig and moved from a smaller TT and tent.

We are totally up for camping during the week when it's less crowded as we are fairly close to Blackwater. We definitely want to keep things as easy as possible as first timers. Thank you for the tips!

Welcome! Congrats! Keep lists of ideas, how to do things, how to make your trailer custom fit for you. Keep a log of experiences, parts, maintenance. Have great trips and memoires.

Congratulations! The more we look at our trailer the more features we see. We didn't realize until today that our trailer has a screened door - that is so nice! I hope you have a wonderful time on your travels, this is really such a nice, comfy layout.

We're "camping" in our driveway this weekend and figuring things out. The one thing that has us puzzled are the pleated shades. Our shades are in the up position with the strings attached to the walls and we can't figure out how to lower them!

Thank you! That is a great idea to start a maintenance and parts log. I also love the idea of keeping a log of experiences - starting with today.

Congrats on the new trailer and welcome to JOF! You’ll find the search function is your best friend and that many of your upcoming questions have been asked and answered. The 212 QB is a great trailer. We love ours. There are a few things you’ll want to fix proactively, like reinforcing the bed frame and the pantry shelves. And if you don’t have a battery cutoff, you might want to add one — much easier than disconnecting the battery during down times. As for the shades, just pull ‘em down. The strings (should) provide tension to keep it in place where you want. They also will eventually fray and you’ll need to replace them. Their are plenty of threads on that, too! Here is a photo album of some of my early mods if it helps: https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/m...lbums1625.html
