New from Texas
Hello - new on this forum, from Flower Mound, TX
Just picked up our 2018 Jayco Hummingbird 17FD on Saturday, did a shake out camping Sunday-Monday.
Works great so far, a couple problems:
1. The refrigerator took about 20 hours to get to temperature on electricity. Is this normal?
2. This trailer has LED outside lights under the awning. They worked fine at the dealer, when on our trip, they just flashed on for a brief second, and then we could not get them to come on. Not an emergency, but our first night we were dark outside.
Thanks!
Jerry

Congratulations on your Hummingbird and welcome to the forum.
Fridges usually cool faster on propane. We do ours on electric overnight.

Welcome neighbors, we are from Grapevine. I am sure you will enjoy your new trailer. We cool our fridge on propane the night prior to leaving and its at temp in the morning. Not much help on the lights issue.

Welcome from Wisconsin and congrats on your 2018 Hummingbird 17FD. 20 hours to precool the fridge on AC is pretty normal. Sure wish Jayco would've put a LP/120/12V fridge in. Would've gladly paid the extra $ as I don't like to travel with the fridge running on LP. For the awning lights were you using the remote or the inside switch to turn them on? Both can be used to turn the lights on & off. Try turning on the interior switch, then turn them on using the remote and see if they stay on. We just use the interior switch to turn them on/off then DW uses the remote to pick the color for the evening.

CONGRATULATIONS on the JAYCO!!!
...and WELCOME TO JOF!!! The members here are GREAT!!! There is a lot of GREAT information to be found here. I am sure that you will have information and pictures to share with us... so please do!!
What oldmanAZ said.... propane is faster at startup!!!
Add 250 watts of SOLAR, an inverter and an extra battery, you can then run your fridge on 110VAC while traveling and your batteries will be charged each day... OK providing the sun is shining. We have been doing this since 2012.

We're close by in grapevine as well. We always plug in our camper a couple days before we leave as the fridge does take a good 24 hours to cool. We also pre cool all our food and drinks with the house fridge before transferring it to the camper. An rv fridge does great at keeping stuff cool or frozen, but takes forever if you fill it with room temperature drinks.
