New Full Time RVers
Hello from Paradise
New members here.
Have been full-time since Camp Fire in Paradise, CA 2018.
recent struggle is a 15amp fuse that keeps blowing on our slide-out lights.
went through 4 fuses that spark before i have a chance to get both prongs in!
Being fire survivors that have never lived in, much less owned, an RV, the smallest hurdles are great setbacks.
We're hooked up to an electrical outlet at my parents house and are not using the water hook-up.
Preparing to move to our dirt lot. Awaiting power-pole replacement.
Soooo... hello to you, from us
the Breeds~

Welcome from Ohio! Sorry for the loss of your belongings in the fire. I'm sure somebody qualified will chime in soon to help with your electrical issue.

Welcome from the Pacific Northwest :-) So sorry about your loss from the Camp Fire. I grew up in NorCal and know the area well. Try sending a message to Vicr he is an electrician and could probably help you. There are many knowledgeable people on this forum and I am sure someone can help. Take care.

Sorry to hear about your loss.
Slide outs have usual a cable under the slide and can get frayed, which usual end up in a short. That's the first diagnose in our shop from experience.

Enjoy and hope things work out for you as you begin this new journey.
My wife and I are going to easy our way into full timing. We've been RVing for 7 years and retiring next year (she full, me going part-time and remote). We're going to play it by ear and get a feel for whether full-timing is for us.

Welcome to the forum from southern Oregon. Sorry for your loss and hope all things work out for the better. I wish I could help with your electrical trouble. If it was me I would just play hit and miss until I stumbled across the trouble. I see one great place to start already. There will be others. Take care.

Welcome to the forum. Sorry for your loss, a friend of mine lost his cabin in that fire. Fortunately for him it was just a vacation home.
Tell us about your trailer, year, model etc. you will get better responses, advice and help.

Better yet..... Put that information into your signature that way it is there every time you post. It helps knowledgeable folks respond more accurately.

Take out all the light bulbs, then put the properly rated fuse back in. If it blows the fuse then it’s in the feed wire to the switch. Replace each bulb is sequence from the closest to the switch to the farthest. If at any time it blows the fuse, the short will be in that section of the wire or light bulb receptacle. That would be my route.
Cheers / Jeff

We have a 2006 32 ft Jayco Jayflight.
Will be buying another box of fuses. Didn't see any cord fray under slide outs. Thanks for all the info and responses.
