New Jayco Owner!

Hello all,

I'm new to this forum and just purchased a 07 Jayco Jay Flight.
It needs a little TLC but in great shape. I'm probably gonna have some questions soon especially now that I've figured out my 12V DC is not working and the last owner may not have wired the battery right. I've not had a lot of time to investigate but anything to look for would be helpful.
Thanks,

Congrats. I'm also new to the Jayco family. Tomorrow I will be picking up my 2018 greyhawk 29ME. Trading my 2014 Winnebago 27K Aspect for it. Like the 29ME floorplan a lot and my DW loves the extra storage. Trying to find my way around this forum and When I pick my unit tomorrow I let y'all know how things turned out.

Hello to you and welcome to the forum.

BEWARE! RV batteries usually have the WHITE wire from the battery as ground (to the trailer frame). That goofs up a lot of folks. Check to be sure the battery '-' goes to the trailer frame.

Also, there are drains that will TOTALLY drain your trailer battery. Unless there is a battery disconnect switch that disconnects EVERYTHING, the best idea is to disconnect the battery negative cable - unless the battery is being charged by the trailer, of course.

CONGRATULATIONS on the JAYCO!!!

...and WELCOME TO JOF!!! The members here are GREAT!!! There is a lot of GREAT information to be found here. I am sure that you will have information and pictures to share with us... so please do!!

If you do not own one go to Walmart and pick up a multimeter to check voltages. Take some pictures of your battery connections so we can help you out. There is usually a 30 amp inline blade fuse between the battery's positive terminal and the TT. Start there. As oldmanAZ said check the wiring.

Welcome! Be aware that if the battery has been sitting dead for any length of time it's probably no good.

Thank you for all the replies, its nice to talk to you all. I was able to work on my 12v issue over the weekend and got it figured out. The last owner had the battery out for a while and when they sold it to me they didn't have it grounded correctly and most of the wires were crossed up. It blew the 30amp inline fuse from the positive. I have everything working now.
Thanks again for the help.
