New "kid" on the block

My name's Charlie.
I live next to Austin TX and just bought a 264BHW. I'm so excited about it. I do, however, have a couple of concerns. The rear storage compartment, under the lower bunk has water lines/valves on the floor at the back. My concern is that cargo could shift/slide to the rear and damage them. Also, it is difficult to access that storage from the interior because the mattress is so bulky. I'd like to screw a wooden cleat to the floor to protect the water lines.

Any advice on making access to that storage easier from the inside and ideas on protection of those lines?

Welcome to the forum!

The lines are the same in my 26BH. I thought about installing a cleat but never got around to it but I've never had an issue with items damaging them.

Do you have gas struts on your bed? Honestly, I just keep some stuff I don't frequently use under the bed to keep from lifting the bed constantly.

CONGRATULATIONS on the JAYCO!!!

...and WELCOME TO JOF!!! The members here are GREAT!!! There is a lot of GREAT information to be found here. I am sure that you will have information and pictures to share with us... so please do!!

I added a 4" topper on top of the regular bed mattress, which added quite a few pounds to the weight of the bed making it difficult for DW to lift. So, I added a 12VDC linear actuator and now all we do is flip the switch and in less than 1 minute we have access. It is the black thing in the photo.

Congratulations and welcome to the group! I have the same concerns about the under bunk storage. I never did anything about it and am somewhat careful as to what I place in that area. So far I haven't had a problem.
