New Member from KY
I just made a deal for a 2007 Jay Flight 25 RKS from a private owner. This is our first camper. My only experience with campers was my parent's 19ft Shasta back in the 60's.
I look forward learning about the trailer. While the trailer is very clean and everything seems to be in order. Is there anything specific I should look at or check out prior to taking delivery? I'll probably pick it up later this week.

Welcome to JOF and your new Jay Flight!
While things look to be clean and in working order (that's good!), some things I'd recommend are to repack the wheel bearings and check the brakes while doing so, disinfect the fresh water tank and plumbing, flush the hot water heater, and if the tires are original, you could be on the tail end of their useful life at 6 years old, so check the date of birth on each tire. I'm sure some others on the forum will have other items.
I was in your great state last spring on my way to the Smokeys and really enjoyed The Land Between Lakes area- beautiful!!

Welcome to Jayco Owners Forum, wayfun. You will find very friendly and helpful folks here so as you are learning your 25 RKS, ask our members anything you need to, and more than likely you will get a good answer. There are a few that have this model so you should be able to get the help you need. I also started RV'ing in a Shasta in the early 60's with my parents.

Welcome to the JOF Dennis! We are owners who are good about doing the bi-annual roof check (and cleaning). After our tt's three year mark, the cracks had appeared to the point that they needed to be addressed. Many folks have to dicor seals up there by their second year, but when not camping, our roof is not subjected to direct sun. Here is a thread that may help;. I was surprised at how easy it is to keep the seals current on an rv roof! If the previous owners didn't keep up with addressing the seals as they began to crack, you may have some issues that involve minor leaks they may not know about. Anyhow, hope this helps

Thanks everyone for the welcome and advice. I hope to bring the trailer home by Wed. When I get it home I'll be going through it from one end to the other and checking everything. I plan to pull the wheels and check the brakes and repack the bearings before the first trip. While the tires don't show evidence of dry rot, they will be replaced before the first long (100 mile +) trip.
To further clarify, this won't be a weekend or vacation travel trailer. We plan to take it to Florida in the fall and find a storage facility in the northern part of the state off of I75. And then a couple of times a year we'll drive down and drag it to an RV park for a 3 to 4 week stay. The season will determine how far south we go. Between now and fall we'll take a few close by weekend trips to figure everything out.
