New Member from Ottawa Canada and RV Newbies too
Hello everyone, my name is Paula and both my husband Clancy and myself will be posting here I expect. We started RVing last fall by renting a Class C and spending a week at Cherry Hill Campground in DC, and another week in Virginia Beach. We were in love! After Christmas we planned a six week trip and left mid-Feb for Charleston, then travelled throughout the SE States and returned home end-March. We had a blast but this time the rental was a turkey.
A month ago we purchased our first RV. It's a Class C 2011 Jayco Greyhawk 31FK. We planned to travel south again in Jan. and store it locally until then, except for occasional trips this summer here in Canada. After checking storage rates, I found it would be cheaper to buy a seasonal campsite near our home and treat the RV like a cottage, so that's what we've done. We moved it to the campsite earlier this week and have been busy setting it up all week, I'm sure you know what I mean. Today we hit our first problem with a loss of power in the Command Centre, the buttons in there no longer work, e.g. our slide-out won't work now. I've been checking literature all afternoon while Clancy figured out where the circuit breaker panel was and tried changing a fuse to no avail. At the end of the day we decided to go home and hope some bright ideas came to us in our sleep. Clancy's sleeping, he has to golf in the a.m. poor guy. I'm a night owl so I tried Googling some of the key words of our problem and though I didn't find the answer, I did find other answers in the Google results from the Jayco Owners forum. So here I am. I'm guessing it's not appropriate to list technical problems when I'm introducing myself in the New Members Forum so I will try to find the appropriate forum and copy and paste my question there. It's nice to tentatively meet everyone and I look forward to having others to talk to about my new home away from home!
Paula

Hi Boubou: My yorkie mix is 6 lbs, 2 years old. Yarker is a pretty little place, with that interesting curve on the hill, and I do believe a stream running thru it? I was looking at some of your pictures on tumblr and I see you've been under the Chesapeake too, that kinda freaked me out when I realized we'd be driving under the ocean! We stayed in a campground in Virginia Beach last fall and got home just 2 days ahead of Hurricane Sandy. That was our first RV trip (rental) and Sandy didn't discourage us because we took another trip in Feb. for 6 weeks. We now have our purchased Jayco at a seasonal site near our home in Rockland, ON and we're treating it like a cottage and we're having lots of fun with that. Our doggie Sara just loves the camping life too. In Oct. we're going to take the RV south to find a place to store it until our next trip south, probably in Jan. My husband doesn't want to have to drive the RV thru snow country in Jan so I guess it makes sense? Take care, Paula
