New Member, New Owner

Hi All,
I just purchased a 2016 (brand new) Jay Feather 7 16xrb. I've never owned a camper before. My parents had a Jay Series pop-up back in the late 80s and into the 90s. I thought their unit was fantastic, so I knew that I wanted to look into Jayco when we decided to purchase a camper. This will bring our family off of the ground and out of the tent. I brought it home and surprised my kids (6 & 3) with it. They were just so beyond excited.
I had intended to get on these forums with excitement and look for all of your advice on things like long term storage, upkeep, setup, towing, and even camping locations. While I will be looking forward to all of that, the excitement of the purchase is gone for the moment as we discovered a major issue (and a few minor ones too) with the unit upon setting it up at home. This unit is one of the hybrids, where beds fold down from each side. Above the bed at the front of the unit, I noticed that the plastic seam is broken in many locations (at most screw points) and the canvas is not secure to the unit. In one corner, it simply hangs down (unless you press it back into place). How I didn't see this upon pickup, I'll never know.
Does anyone know if this is issue has happened with many of these hybrid units?
Thanks and I hope to have more positive things to say in the future!!

Welcome to the JOF. You will find a lot of very useful information here.
I can understand in the excitement of purchasing your first trailer/hybrid, how stuff got missed in the Pre-Delivery Inspection (referred as PDI in here)
Hopefully the dealer where you purchased it is close by so you could take it back to them and ask them to fix it under warranty. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks!
The dealer is about 50 miles north of here, so it's pretty inconvenient. I purchased through Camping World though, and they have closer locations. I'm hoping that I can take the vehicle to a closer location. I'll certainly post about my experience with the warranty work that is needed. My true measure of the work will be if by the end of the season, I have forgotten this issue even happened.

Hi to you and welcome to the forum.

Even experienced RV owners miss stuff during the PDI. As RAurand said, take it back to the dealer for a warranty repair.

I would talk to your nearest Camping World then and see what they say.

CONGRATULATIONS on the JAYCO!!!

...and WELCOME TO JOF!!! The members here are GREAT!!! There is a lot of GREAT information to be found here. I am sure that you will have information and pictures to share with us... so please do!!

As the others have mentioned call the dealer and send JAyco an email "service@jayco.com" with your VIN and pictures and ask them for advice just to see what they have to say about it. This way Jayco is made aware of your issues.
