New member picking up a new 28DSBH this week

We haven't signed the papers or done the PDI but today we left a deposit to hold a 28dsbh. We have searched and walked the dealership lots and this seems to be the perfect fit for our family. We are really excited. Any advice on the PDI and questions to ask, things to check?

We picked ours up last week. It was our first new camper. We went tent, pop up, hybrid,m Whitehawk. Both the pop up and hybrid were used so we figured alot out on our own. Make sure they show you everything working, heat, a/c water heater etc. Also make sure you understand all the manual overrides in case something like the slide fails while your at the campground. Good luck.

congrats on the new trailer. We also picked up our new 2013 28DSBH last month. We also went the same path as Johnny5 Tent (many yrs), pop-up (3 yrs), hybrid (1 season), now whitehawk. Don't be afraid to ask questions even if you think its a stupid question. The only stupid question is the one not asked! Congrats again, this forum is great if you ever get stumped.

Thanks! My husband owned a popup for a short time before we were married and my parents owned several pop ups during my childhood. My parents still camp frequently and have talked about full time camping in their toy hauler fifth wheel. Last year we squeezed in with Nanna and Papa but now we'll have our own. Picking out the right tt has been a long process for us but it was also fun. We chose Jayco because it just seemed to be a better quality than other ultra lights we looked at. This forum seems great for answering questions as I've already read a few threads that answered questions I had meant to ask at the dealership! By the way, the dealership has been awesome, even steering us away from a slightly too heavy tt that we loved that probably would have been an unsafe towing situation. I appreciated their honesty instead of letting us drive off with it knowing it wasn't ideal.

Question... what trailer did they steer you away from? We wanted the eagle 314, but was too heavy.

We looked at a toy hauler. It was a used totally loaded 2011 Forest River XLR 29ckv and a very good deal. On paper, we could've pulled it with our max tow pkg (9500 lbs) but really close to the max. With a half ton vehicle, we had to watch for the tongue weight. That's what you will probably max out first because the truck payload is lower. How well does your F150 pull the white hawk? We will eventually be heading toward the Smokies....

Do the PDI with a video camera if you have one. Larry

TN Camp Lady,

Welcome to JOF. I picked up my 2013 28DSBH in March. Have been on one trip so far to Shelby Forest and had a blast. I am also in Millington, TN, I live by Tipton Rosemark Academy. I ordered mine since Southaven RV didn't have one with the options I wanted. It only took about a month for the factory to build it and ship it here.

Gary
