New member, soon to be new owner

Hi all,

My name's Dirk, I live in Bend, Oregon (Central Oregon) and have recently decided to move forward, heavily research, and hopefully soon, buy a new Jayco Class C.

It's funny how broad my search started, with various manufacturers and dozens of models. I was even, briefly, considering a class B but quickly decided against it.

After extensive research, hours upon hours of YouTube videos and browsing buyers guides, I have firmly rested on the decision to go with Jayco. Even then, I had probably about four or five models that I couldn't decide on. Well, I finally have it narrowed down to two (primarily because of the size and floor plan I want.)

I'm looking at the 29MV and the 29ME. Not a lot of differences and maybe that's why I've reached an impasse. I plan on posting on the JaycoOwners' Class C forum to ask for feedback but in the meantime just wanted to say hi and look forward to chatting and getting some good feedback from some more experienced RVers.

Catch ya on the flip flop,
Dirk

Welcome to the forum and congrats on deciding to get a Jayco! We were just talking a few minutes ago about Bend and that we want to include it on our annual trip to the PNW next summer. This will be our first time to your town and we're looking forward to exploring that part of the state. Have fun with your class C when you get it. Pictures are good too, we love to see them.

You'll love it here. It's a great place to vacation in and a better place to live. Make sure you spend time tubing down the Deschutes River, a quick 25 minute drive up to Mount Bachelor, and visiting as many of the 26 craft breweries we have in town.

Great camping, good food, and nice people are waiting for you.

Good to hear, we love good food. Do you have any restaurant recommendations? We might hit up a few of the breweries too. A drive up Mt. Bachelor will make for a good picnic (I think), so we'll bring the pup with us for that day trip. The tubing sounds like fun, if we were younger and had good backs. lol
Thanks for the info!

I too just joined this site a few minutes ago after reading some of the posts. We are moving from an 2005 Arctic Fox 22H" Trailer w/ 97 Suburban TV to the Greyhawk 31FS. Funny I should see this post.

We have been researching for some time and also came to the conclusion Jayco products just feel the best. We did test drive this and the Thor Hurricane 34J Class A, but my wife just felt at home in the Greyhawk.

This is a huge investment and I am pretty sure Jayco is the best, but what were the items that finalized your decision?

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the Greyhawk.

We picked Jayco because it had the floorplan we wanted, it offered the best bang for the buck, and had a 2 yr warranty.

If you like Italian, my favorite place is Pastini Pastaria - reasonably priced and right on the river and a beautiful sidewalk for a stroll after dinner. Next door, coincidentally, is another favorite specializing in American fare. The restaurant, Greg's Grill, is beautiful with the highest vaulted ceilings you've ever seen and more beautiful views of the river. Downtown, there's a nice place with really good food called the Pine Tavern. It's one of the older restaurants in town, has a giant tree growing right through the middle of the dining room and out through the ceiling. It's also on the river and a tad higher priced. On the east side of town (Highway 20 & 27th Street) is the Phoenix. Inexpensive with a really nice menu. They even have a sunset special menu from 4:00 to 5:30 featuring a three course meal of your choice for less than $20.00. And you have to take the Deschutes Brewery Tour and sample some of my favorite beers in Central Oregon.

Even if you're not "floaters", the Riverbend Park would still be a great place to go for the day. You can wade into the river or just put a couple chairs out and relax under the sun or the shade of a tree on the grass and watch the kayakers and tubers.

So many things to eat, see, and do. I hope you can spend several days or more and really take it all in.

Thanks so much for the detailed tips! We are planning on spending 3 or 4 days in Bend. It sounds like a lot of fun. Come on summer!
