New member wanting to say thanks.

I just wanted to take a few moments to say thanks to all of the members that are on this board. I just bought our new 287 BHS last week and have gained a lot of confidence and knowledge from here. I am documenting all of my Mods as I go. You will catch me hanging out in the Travel Trailers section mostly. I am recently retired from Law Enforcement, married and am almost an empty nester. I have been camping all of my life starting with tents. After my marriage we upgraded to a popup, then to an older 22 footer from the late 60's/early 70's. Since then I have had 1986 Jayco and a 2000 Eagle fifth wheel. These 2 were project campers. Backed into a tree limb and totalled the Eagle out last fall. That brings me to the 287 SLX. I have a problem in which I like to customize things and this camper fits the bill. Being an entry line model I have an open canvas so to speak to work with. For me half the fun of having it will be making it mine how I want it.

We're glad you like it here. There's always room for experienced RVers to share their opinions, thoughts, and knowledge, and you picked the best Forum on the planet. We all look forward to learning about your mods. They make a camper feel like home. Congratulations on the retirement. I did the same from a somewhat similar profession.

The knowledge I've gained on this Forum is priceless. Remembering my first camper and all the bumbling mistakes I made and thinking I wish I knew then what I know now, lol. Welcome aboard.

Welcome to JOF and retirement. My youngest son is preparing for a retirement from a LEO career and this old father is relieved.

Enjoy the use of and mods on your rig and share them with us here who have the same love of rving!

I am new to this stuff but share the same sentiment. I asked the dealer if I could just buy a frame. He laughed and sternly said, "no."
