Welcome! Our 195RB has served us at many parks around the country and I have had the fun to make a lot of modifications, some copies and some my own. Feel free to ask here and to use the search bar to find ways to make it better for your use.

Welcome! You got one of the best out there…we loved ours.
RogerR is right about lots of great mod threads on here (he’s got some that I used and worked great if you’re looking for a spot to start).

I am planning on doing the Tote addition on the back bumper for the hoses and stuff first. We are also going to replace the mattress. Do you know if a King short mattress will fit? We don't actually pick up our camper until Friday so I can't measure.

The 195 is 84 inches wide
The shelves on each side of the bed are 12 inches wide each With cabinets above
Subtract 24 from 84 and that only allows for a queen width
As far as bumper storage make sure your hose elbow fits if using one

Thanks! We were thinking of removing the shelves in order to accommodate a larger mattress, but just wasn't sure how wide they actually were.

As far as the bumper storage, we are planning on using the same tote as rigger4343 did so I'm pretty sure we're good with that. We actually thought about going just a tad bigger so we could put some other things in there also. Not sure on that though.

Welcome from Wisconsin. Congrats and enjoy your Jay Flight SLX7 195RB. Make sure you do a thorough PDI before you sign anything else or hand over any more $. Lots of PDI checklists on line to download and take with you. Note anything that needs to be fixed, adjusted, etc and have them do it before completing the transaction. Otherwise you're at the mercy of the dealers service dept getting you in their schedule.

Youll want to replace the end caps with something latchable
We lost both end caps very early on. Since we never found the bumper useful for storage we didnt bother fixing them
Before buying stuff look at the bed and dinette seat supports and the pantry shelf supports
We did a lot of reinforcement

One of my first improvements was to dispose of the crumpled newspaper mattress and get a 10 inch "Short Queen" size from Zinus, Great sleeping since. Adds weight so then we got bedlifters ( spring/gas shock types] that help take some of the weight off when we get under the bed. You may also need to reinforce the hinges at the head of the bed.

Another issue if you do that is six inches of legroom on the sides of the bed
Underneath the shelves is no support. You would have to reframe the bed
