New RVers and new Jayco owners…
Greetings from Eagle River, Alaska! My wife and I will picking up our new Jayco Eagle 330RSTS next month in Washington state. We’ll be pulling it with a 2022 Ram 2500 6.4L. This is our first time owning a RV, but we have rented in the past. Our plan is to break it in this summer with the eventual goal of taking our time heading back to lower 48 next summer after I retire from the Coast Guard.

Thank you for your service. Congratulations on your new memory maker and opportunity to visit all the warm weather duty stations. I spent seven summers running a Boy Scout Sea Base next to the South Padre Island Texas station. Much different experience pre and post 9/11.
We love Winter Texans™

Welcome to JOF and congrats on a really awesome travel trailer! That is a beast. A quality weight distribution hitch will be a must with that TT and your truck.

Greetings from SOMD (southern Maryland)! New owner of a 2023 Jayfeather 24BH! First time owner long time camper, towing with a '13 F-150. Stayed overnight in WV on our way back from purchasing in KY and learned the furnace works well! Looking forward to this season with the family!

Thanks! Any recommendations on a WD hitch? I’ve been eyeballing a lot of them and it’s a bit overwhelming.

I’m a fan of Weigh Safe. It has a scale in the hitch and using the app calculates the amount of distributed weight for your truck and trailer. It truly takes the guesswork out of it. In my opinion the only WD hitch that’s better is a ProPride or Hensley and those are both 4 grand. Weigh Safe is about a grand but we’ll worth it especially for heavier travel trailers.

Thanks again! The one’s I have been looking at are close enough to 1k, so that’s not unreasonable at all.

LSUfaninAlaska,
Welcome to JOF
Here are a couple JOF threads that may come in handy prior to, and after receiving your new Eagle 330RSTS:
Detailed PDI: https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f...d-36094-5.html
CAT Scale TV/TT 'how-to': https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f...v-tt-3871.html

Just food for thought...........
A moderately loaded 2023 Eagle 330RTS scaled gross weight of 11,600lbs (as-shipped UVW 10,900lb + Cargo 700lbs, w/no fluids) = 1,508lbs - 1,740lbs (13% - 15%) recommended loaded tongue weight range......., one would be looking at a WDH tongue weight rated at 1,800lbs minimum.
The 330RSTS loaded to it's GVWR of 12,250lbs = 1,593lbs - 1,838lbs (13% - 15%) loaded tongue weight range, then ideally a WDH rated at 2,000lb minimum.
The high WDH tongue weight rating requirement may limit the WDH Brands offering's in this weight class. Definitely want a WDH with integrated sway control.
Bob

Good points sir. I didn’t mention this in my earlier post but one of the reasons I recommend the Weigh Safe is with the 2.5” shaft it comes with a 20k GTW rating which I believe includes distributed weight. It also has 4 points of sway prevention like a few others on the market offer.
With our 38 foot TT I’ve yet to experience sway and been in 25 plus mph winds before. I am certainly not affiliated in any way with the company I just truly believe in their WD hitch.

When I had my TT, I used a Reese round bar WD hitch with sway control. When I traded up from a 7000# TT to a 9500# TT, I only had to buy heavier rated bars.
