New to Jayco....

Downsizing from the Thor Super C to the Melbourne Prestige. Gonna miss the 747 but very excited about all the opportunities a smaller coach offers AND getting 125 more miles each day on the same amount of fuel. The only immediate addition I will need is installing auto-level jacks. What brand does Jayco use and has anyone been back to factory service for this install? What are other options besides the local "wait forever" dealer network and praying they do it right?

I would look at a Big Foot system since they have or had an install center in Lakeland, which would be a much easier drive than going to Indiana. Bigfoot Leveling Systems - BEST RV Levelers in the industry.

As to service you may find a mobile tech in your area that Jayco works with.

Enjoy the new rig and

Well, we traded Tuesday and got rid of the Thor Super C. Amazingly, everything in the new Jayco works perfectly. The fit and finish is excellent and she rides very smooth. Jayco seems to do a much better job in the construction process than Thor. I was also impressed with the performance of the Mercedes chassis. Now, learning how to go "Steve Martin" (get small) is the challenge. Not much storage but I knew this going in. The difference in fuel mileage will be huge.

So far all is good with the Melbourne...I do have a couple issues if anyone can assist or advise...

1) Steps just will not stay out...I've gone through all the reasons and nothing works. Engine off, parking brakes on/off, stabilizers down...nothing seems to solve it. Every time I close the door...in they go. Any help with knowledge of how JAYCO wires these things would be great.

2) Black tank sensor totally inoperative (not just off a bit). I understand the sensor issues we live with but....this unit is brand new and has the macerator toilet. The 2 button flush panel has a green/yellow/red light which indicates tank level and will not flush when tank gets full. I'm good with that but, is it possible they've wired that feature into the standard tank sensors that usually controls the black tank gauge in the panel, rendering it inoperative?

Other than these 2 issues everything else works perfectly. Very impressed with the build quality. I think a lot has to do with the simplicity of a small, no slide-outs motorhome. Heading out today for the 3 day "shakedown" (although everything has been tested multiple times in the driveway and on a couple day cruises around the beach area).

Thanks for any help!!

Did you check the step switch on the wall?

Yes...meant to include that in my post. Amazing this old brain can still have a brain fart. I've tried every combination of settings...it could be the wires behind that switch.

Or a bad switch.
