New to the game

Hello,

Just joined up here and have been reading a lot of great information!

My wife and I just placed an order for 2018 Whitehawk 27RB! This will be our first travel trailer. We've always camped with family but never in our own unit so we're pretty excited to now have our own space.

I did find the wonderful PDI check list in one of the other forums which I feel will be a huge help on pick up day! Thank you to the creators of that thing!!

Right now I'm tossing around which WDH I want but I'm pretty sure on the equalizer 4point. The dry tongue is advertised as 610lbs but I understand that is usually understated plus the added weight of everything else I'm wondering if I should go with the 1200lbs version or the 1000lbs WDH, thoughts?

I'm sure I'll have a bunch more questions in the near future!

Welcome to the forum and congrates on your new trailer.

I'm guessing that once you're trailer is loaded, your tongue weight will be in the range of 800-1000 lbs.
You could get away with 1000lb WDH bars, but the 1200lb WDH would give you that extra cushion.
I would go with the 1200lb WDH if I were you and if it fits into your budget.

FYI - when we had a TT, I had a Hensley hitch. They are expensive, but I felt it was well worth the $. We got the Hensley based on safety and it did totally eliminated sway, and now that we own a FW I can honestly say the Hensley Hitch made a TT tow like a FW.

Good luck and hope this was of some help.
