New to this Forum and new to Jayco

Hey Folks,

Well today, we put a deposit down on a 2017 27.5RKDS. This will be our 1st 5th wheel. Our back story is somewhat short but something that a lot of RV'ers can relate to.

In November 2016, we purchased our first camper. It is a 2017 Coleman 1805RB ... an 18' pull behind that we pull with a 2015 Silverado 2500HD/6.5' bed with 4wd and the 6.0L gas engine ( there's another story behind the truck ). We have been camping, or as my wife would say, "glamping" 4 times since the purchase.

We soon realized that the 18' just wasn't quite big enough :-) ... sound familiar to anyone else ? Anyway, we decided to go 5th wheel and chose the 27.5RKDS. I believe we will love it.

We take possession of the 5th wheel June 10th. Looking forward to the additional room and more glamping fun.

My husband and I are waiting delivery of our 2018 27.5RKDS. We could not find a 2017 in our area. We love the rear kitchen as our current TT has the same set up. We are downsizing from a 34 foot TT, but the new FW will work for us just fine. We also cannot wait!!

Welcome and congrats on the new trailer!!!

Yep, was always told that also. Our 1st camper was predicated on the truck we had at the time. It was a 2005 Tundra 4.6L V8 designed to pull 7200lbs. So, with that in mind, we bought the 18' pull behind. Pulling the new camper home that day, I realized that the Tundra just wasn't enough truck. I couldn't maintain highway speeds with it. I believe the problem was the rear end ratio of 3.07.

So, when we got home, I told the we wife need a more capable truck. The next weekend, I went 3/4 ton truck shopping and found a one year old Silverado 2500HD.

Welcome to the group. Very helpful folks here. It's much more civil than many Internet forums which is great. Have fun in your new rig.
