Smile New White Hawk owner!

Hello from the land of 10,000 lakes!!

How are we all doing in here?

I have upgraded from the old pop-up to my first Travel Trailer and we are so excited to get out and explore.

I am looking forward to digging through some great threads on here from all of you well seasoned vets.

Thanks,

Murphy

Hello from the land of 10 lakes! (Actually, AZ has more than 10!)

Congratulations on the White Hawk and welcome to the forum.

Welcome from the home of Possum Kingdom Lake... but what's in a name? We have the same trailer and I know you'll love it, especially upgrading from a pop-up. We are thoroughly enjoying ours. Best of luck with it!

Welcome! We have a 2015 version of the same trailer. I've gotten pretty familiar with it if you have any questions. (Although I'm always stumbling onto something new). My WDH is an EAZ-LIFT rated at 1200#. It's not my favorite but it was included in the purchase and I've never replaced it.

We have an EAZ-LIFT 1000 but it's made for top coupler type trailers. Ours is under-slung and we're considering a Blue Ox Sway Pro BXW-1503 made for that type of coupler. My tongue weight is very close to max for what I have... ... but it's working OK for now. Ride is harsh and we're hoping that will ease up with the new hitch. It's $600- though... and I'm cheap.

I picked up a Equalizer WDH 10k last night off of Craigslist

Now I am second guessing myself and should of gone with the 12k.

what to do, what to do....

Congo Ratz, I am sure you will love your rig. IMHO, that WDH should work just fine for you.
Enjoy.

Murphy,
IMO, stay with the 10k: Your trailer gross 6,500lbs X 0.15 = 975lbs tongue weight.

I believe the GTW is 7500 lbs x .15 = 1125 lbs

Murphy is correct. And, even with my error, I still believe a 10k Equal-i-zer hitch will be fine.

I have a 10k Equal-i-zer hitch for my TT (8,600lbs * .15 = 1,290) and it works well for me. I've had the same hitch for about 10 years and towed many trailers with it, some seriously over the 1k on the tongue, without a problem.
