Hello all. Currently waiting on a 2015 jayflight 154bh Baja edition to be shipped up here from Washinton. Anyone else have this model? The good? The bad? The ugly?

Sorry I don't know that name. Going to use it here in Kodiak. That's why I opted for the Baja. Not too many paved roads here, but excellent camping spots right on the river for salmon fishing. Plus when I transfer out in two years I plan to use it for some cross country camping. Thank you, and thank you for your service Marine.

West is her maiden name, she grew up there. My late husband was a Coastie but we never got stationed there. We were in juneau, Seward and eagle river.

Hi, I'm in Fairbanks, also considering the 154bh Baja (also looking into r-pod and Jayco A-frame). It's a shame you got all these responses, but nobody answered your questions!! At any rate, I'm wondering if you have this yet, and can add any useful info for a first-time buyer.

I did get it however I am deployed for another week. I looked at the r-pod as well and the price was too much. The 154bh has everything the pod has, but the 154 has a full bathroom where as the pod had a wet bathroom. The 154bh comes with a 2 year warranty. I don't think the pod had any. The 154 came with a retractable awning. The pod had a option for a tent that attaches to the side. Haven't used it yet but I am pleased with the layout. The Baja edition is nice, it sits up high so I will be able to take it on the trails and not worry about ripping any of my plumbing out on a rock. The Jayco a frame seems a little pricey too for what you get.

I have the 195RB Baja - so far have been pretty pleased. A few minor things - one is the mounting for the 30lb propane tank coupled with the fact that nobody makes a hard cover for them. I've seen a few posts regarding modifications to improve that and keep it from flopping around when underway (here is how I fixed it --> http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f3...ort-26070.html).

Also, make sure you have everything you need for jacking it up to change a flat. With the flipped axle and the recommendation to NOT jack it up by the axle but rather the frame just in front/back of the spring you'll want to make sure you have sufficient blocks, etc. to get the jack up high enough to do the job.

Check everything over good before heading out. I ran a full fresh water tank through all the systems checking for leaks. Actually ended up with a small one that only leaked when the hot water tank was lit. Turned out to be leftover metal filings stuck under a water line that had started to wear thru due to vibrations. When the tank was lit and heating the increased pressure caused the leak to appear.

Some have complained about the on/off switch on the TOP of the thermostat being too stiff. Mine takes some effort but isn't too bad.

Some of the good things I like about the Baja model are the LT tires, increased ground clearance - have an inclined drive I have to back into that is too steep for most of the standard models we looked at, and the enclosed/insulated underbelly.

Chuckwagon - we've some things in common. I lived, off/on in Kodiak from '74 until June '96, so I know the island. More importantly, I have a 2016 JAYCO 154BH, Baja ed. I bought it to hunt the remote areas here in Oregon, so the high clearance and other Baja stuff has been perfect for logging roads, rough terrain, etc. However, I WOULD NOT try to take it to Saltery Cove! Cliff Point, Anton Larson Bay, Rosylyn Beach, Pasagshak, and a few others - fine. Since most of the Kodiak road system is paved, not too much problem, but when encountering the many gravel roads, I strongly recommend you do one thing specifically - find a protector for your propane tank AND ESPECIALLY the propane hoses and regulator. A sharp rock or shell could put a big crimp in an outing. Were I you, I'd also try to figure a way to get rid of the A/C and put a baking oven in its place. My Baja (and probably yours too) was made in Idaho, but the insulation is only rated R7 (insufficient for much below 20F. I talked to JAYCO, and they said without tearing out walls, can't increase R-factor. I really like my 154 Baja; hope you find yours as useful as mine. - Jeff
