Newbie, just bought a nearly pristine 25RKS
Hi all!
I've really enjoyed reading through many of the topics and this group appears as friendly as they come in forums. Belonging to several forums for various hobbies and interests, I appreciate a well-moderated site that weeds out the trolls!
Anyway, to introduce myself, my wife and I are both in our late-forties, live in Foresthill, CA, and have two teenage boys. Since I live in an area within the Tahoe National Forest, and camping is abundant here I set out seeking a small vintage such as an Ideal or Starcraft. When my wife found out, she refused to consider sleeping in a 30 or 40 year old camper. My idea was just a small trailer to house the stuff, but she wanted something newer. I was surprised when she said she would go for a camper, but the next day I found an ad in Craigslist, sent it to her at work, and she said 'yes.' I took a four hour drive after talking to the (second) owner of the camper who stated everything in it worked fine.
It was in fact so nice, it could have just come off the showroom floor. The only indicators of some age was the typical yellowing of the plastics on the exterior, and some cracked decals. Inside, everything worked just as promised. I hope it was a good price, $8,800 for a 2005 25RKS, but I guess it is worth what you are willing to pay for it.
We loaded it up a week later and took or first trip (close to home, we left the boys there) and everything functioned flawlessly. I think my only disappointment is the overall size. I had hoped for something smaller, but the wife wanted a walk-around queen and loved the rear kitchen. So, I'll just have to be extra careful in some of our tight campgrounds.
