Newbie TT owner from TX

Greetings,

Just purchased my first TT yesterday. Got a Swift 287BHBE.

Excited and nervous at the same time. Looking forward to reading through advice from other forum users.

Howdy neighbor! I'm right over in Seguin!

We looked long and hard at that 287BHBE, that's a really nice unit!

Congrats & welcome!

Welcome. My wife and I are both TX natives. We've had a 287BHBE since August, and love it. It's big enough to setup the play pen for the little guy, and not be tripping on it.

Just curious, (this will become relevant for me VERY soon) where do you put it? Are there any special tips you might share about camping in this trailer with little ones? I have the 28BHBE, same floor plan...

Sorry OP, don't mean to hijack...

Sorry OP, don't mean to hijack...

We put it in the corner where the couch and dinette meet, for sleeping. It still leaves more room to move around than most trailers without a slide. During the day, it's broken down, and tucked between the ladder and wall. He turned 2 in February. We're taking the pen next week, but really hoping he'll sleep in the bottom bunk with his brother.

For the older kids, we lock the main door during the day. Most of the time, they're coming in to use the bathroom, and we force them to use the bathroom entry.

I had to remove the bulb on the bottom bunk, because the little guy was constantly playing with it.

If you have boys, let them go outside(dry camping) or facility bathrooms(campground). Take army showers. The tanks are way too small for a trailer that sleeps so many.

We had to move the knives, lighters, and other point objects from the drawers. That stuff is in a basket in the above sink counter.

I don't remember of the 28BHBE has a grab handle, but you should install one if not. Even the (almost) 7 yr old has a hard time coming in the doors.

Welcome to JOF!
You've come to the right place. If you ask a question that nobody here can answer it's a rare day.
