Hello all,
I have been camping for years in one form or another as my parents have owned Class A's, Class B's, 5th Wheels and Bumper Pulls. They always bought used trailers from dealers, used them for a few years and then traded them in on some other type. This went on for many years, but whatever the type, the unit was always available to my family to use.
Well, my parents have now reached the age where they are not comfortable owning/maintaining their own, so it was time for me to step up and become an owner. I have always been partial to Jayco's and particularly 5th wheels. So, we found the floor plan we like and searched the nation. We found a 2009 Jayco Super Lite 31.5 FBHS in Missouri. I had a friend who happened to live nearby there go by and check it out. When all was good, we purchased it via phone and made a non-stop run there and back in 3 days, only stopping for food and fuel. Crazy? Yes. But it was actually a lot of fun...
Anyways, we got it back to the house. It is absolutely new inside and almost spotless outside. However, I am going through each part and doing routine maintenance to learn how it works (water heater, fridge, a/c, landing gear, furnace, tanks, roof, etc.) My dad always had his serviced professionally, so this is all new to me. I say this because other than the manuals, I have learned everything from this forum!!! By scouring the threads, I have learned so much about what to do (and not do...). This forum has taught me so much about how to maintain a trailer that I didn't even know had to be done (like flushing a water heater, etc.)
Anyways, this is the first forum I have ever been a member of, and it has been a great experience so far. I would usually never post something, but you asked me to
. I even posted my first question the other day and got an almost immediate response. I hope to repay the assistance someday to someone else new. Anyways, this forum and its members all are awesome!!!
Thanks again,
Robert
