Old Guy, New to the forum

First and foremost, hello to all of the lucky people

We (my lovely wife of 42 years and myself) have never owned an RV. Back in the horse and buggy days (1970's) we did quite a bit of tent camping. I hopefully retire in 3 years and we are looking forward to travel this great country during the summer months. I have being doing a lot of research on the RV lifestyle and what to do and not to do. We have a lot to learn - hence joining this site. I have watched a lot of videos and read a lot about "Boondocking" and that appeals to us very much. We like the idea of staying at free camp sites all across this country and being out in nature. That's not to say we won't be staying in a campground from time to time with full hook-ups. I've read and seen a lot about various solar panels and lithium batteries. A solar system is something I would very much like to have after we purchase an RV.

After looking (on-line) at many different makes and models of RV's it has been narrowed down to 2. The Thor Windsport 31 footer or the Jayco Precept 31ul. It would be nice if we could combine what we like about them both but we realize that isn't possible.

We like the theater seating in the Precept 31ul and the fact that the TV is directly across from those seats. The kitchen counter space is smaller then the 31 ft Windsport (which my wife likes) but it looks very functional especially with the slide out drawers providing some extra counter space. We like the bathroom with the sink and toilet separate from the shower. The only thing we don't like about the shower is it isn't a 1 piece fiberglass enclosure.

I could say a lot more but as my wife always says: I tend to talk to much.

In any case I hope to fit in here, learn a lot and hopefully meet some nice people along the way. I have read some of the posts and it looks like a nice forum.

Thank you for allowing me to join.

Don

P.S. About my handle. I use this handle a lot because it seems to always work. I guess it should be Don Doesn't Know. It's just a handle

Welcome.

Your handle is perfect.
We have owned three motorhomes, not the specific ones you are researching, and love the amenities and convenience of an all in one RV.

We prefer boondocking but don't mind staying at county and national campgrounds on occasion.

Feel free to ask any more questions that you may have and feel free to join in on any of the conversations.

Congratulations on your marriage, future trailer, and future retirement. And welcome to the forum.

Trailer shopping is fun. There are always trade offs etc. plus the manufacturers make changes every year... sometimes mid year. Enjoy!

Welcome to the forum. There are great people here, lots of knowledge and opinions.
Don't not hesitate to ask any question, there really are no stupid questions here, and there really is no wrong opinion here.
