Our family Christmas present!

We just our purchased our first MH, Jayco Redhawk 26 XD and spent the past 2 nights in it at the dealer's lot to "shake it down". Found some excess wood in the over cab cabnetry....fresh firewood?? And this morning when trying to empty the grey water....noticed the black water piping unconnected. Wouldn't that have been a surprise???!!!! Our check engine light has been on since our test drive and dealer will take to Ford on Monday. We replaced the toilet with a porcelien Dometic 310..... although our home has those mighty fine Toto Neorest. After thee first night, we put a 2" memory foam topper on the queen mattress and called it sleep approved.
We will be traveling with 4 Bedlington terriers and sharing the year with our adult daughter/son-in-law and son...depending who has money for gas!
We are very pleased with what we have purchased and are looking forward to a good 5 years ahead.
I would like to get a set of sheets and mattress pad for the overcab mattress, but not sure where to look for the most odd size!
I have read through many post already and love the family here.....I really hope we meet you somewhere along the road!!
In video..note how well,we work together!

Merry Christmas to you and your family and enjoy your new MH!!!

I had to laugh at your video trying to unlock the doors. I've owned my Jayco for 4 years and I still get it backwards!!

The other day a friend said that she exchanges Christmas presents with her husband. I told her that we haven't had a problem with that in years. We just buy each other a new RV every year or so! Enjoy that great gift!

You guys are awesome. That deadbolt on the door has tripped us up before too. It's a good spot to spray a little of your lube of choice I've discovered.

Update on Christmas gift!

Well, after our 2 days on the dealers lot to check our MH out, it has been at Ford for the check engine light for a week....seems the oxygen sensor keeps coming off and it has to be rewired...or something like that! And also, the black water line was disconnected at the joint after the opening lever!! So, we only had the pleasure for 2 days..... going to ask for extension on the licensing to accommodate for lack of use. No date given on when the ?repairs will be completed. In hindsight, we probably should not have paid until the check engine light was off.....it was on when we took for a test drive and told it would be fixed before we picked it up (not) and that it was not unusual for new rigs to have issues.

Hang in there and don't get too discouraged. Personally, I think it's a bunch of poop when buyers are told, it's normal, they all have problems, etc......

People pay hard earned money shouldn't have problems right off the bat.

We had a custom house build for about 500K back in the 90's and after I did the 'PDI' I had about 30 items that needed correcting and this is after it had already passed numerous inspections by the city/county/builder.

The space shuttle had a fair number of QC issues initially too. I see it at every price point. All you can really do is keep your fingers crossed that you don't have excessive problems, but anticipating some is just part of the game.

Yeah I've heard those analogies before...... Still doesn't make it right.

Gone are the days of perfection, QC and value of money I guess. Hope to hear from dealer tomorrow....if not...they will hear from ME. Am I off course in expecting the dealer to somehow compensate for this???

Depends I guess on the inconvenience. If you're living in it and incurring hotel/food rental car etc expense yes, you should be compensated somehow. If not, probably not but it sure doesn't hurt to try!
