Thumbs up Potential owner

I retired 13 yrs ago with an early retirement package from a major manufacturer and my wife just retired in Oct of 2013 with a similar package from a local manufacturer (and they say they don't age discriminate???), but we're both happy for both of us! I have tent, camper trailer and small travel trailer experience in my early life but my wife has only done a couple of tent trips with me years ago. Now we are ready to bite the TT bullet for a Jayco 22FB that I have been researching for a week. I've looked at comparable trailers (few that even compare), and searched the web on the "other TT's" for reviews and I keep coming back to the Jayco for the best buy, quality, this forum's info, and believe we have made up our mind with the 22FB. Lots and lots of my questions were answered on here by searching for the "22FB", and now all we have to do is go to the dealership and say "get it ready" for us, and hit the road (when the weather breaks). Thanks to all who have contributed!

22FB is a really nice "Couples Trailer". Some day my kids will grow up and move on when DW and I can reverse the trend of everything getting bigger.

I know you mentioned that you have made up your mind on the 22FB, but if your tow vehicle is up to it I think considering the 22FBS would be well worth it. Slightly heavier but oh some much more livable with a slide and "L" shaped kitchen. Our first TT was 26BH, no slide and galley kitchen, and at first it was great -- how could it not be it wasn't a tent -- but then in just a couple trips with friends who's TT had slides and better kitchen layouts we started to think we made a mistake. For us the breaking point was add kid #3 and we simply needed more bunk space. When upgrading we got a main slide and more functional kitchen, I can't begin to tell you how much nicer having a couple extra feet of width and a little more counter space is.

Either way congratulations to you wife on the retirement and welcome to the JOF.

Well, we go down tomorrow to seal the deal! Found one about 2 hrs away with a dealer that had many other options (alum wheels, upgrade to the 15K A/C, ladder, thermal pkg, elect stabilizer jacks) than the other one about an hour away and they wanted to deal. Gave me the same price as the one we looked at with the power pkg, grill, technology pkg, and were about to buy. So now or tomorrow we will be an owner instead of a potential buyer.

Congrats on your pre-purchase and welcome to JOF! Make sure you try a couple of camp driveways for your first "outing'.

nevercominhome---Suppose to pick it up Wednesday IF the snow forecast is wrong. Anywhere between Ice, then snow 5-8" on one channel and 8-12" on another, so anyone's guess what we will actually get, hoping they are wrong. Looking at the news now and the Impact says MAJOR!

Reply to questions

Thinking about trips to Nag Head, NC @ Oregon Inlet, Big Meadows up on the mountain in Va, Douthat State Park in Va, Kiptopeake State Park in Va, and a campground on the Shenandoah River to catch the Smallmouth Bass in July/August. C'mon warm weather!!

The Chevy pulled it fine up and down the hills on I81 from Troutville, Va where we bought it, and with all the trucks on I81 the E2 hitch/sway bar combo gave me no unexpected sway/suction. After I81 and on to I64, it was over the mountain at Waynesboro with a cruise up the mountain around 60 MPH. No problems other than the 9.4-7 average which wasn't bad due to the hills and valley's driving. Kinda miss the GMC diesel which I had a couple of years ago when I pulled the #7000 boat/trailer but am satisfied with the Chevy on the ride home.

Thanks for asking----C'mon warm weather --Oh yeah, I said that already!
