Problems with missing parts in self adjusting brakes on Dexter Axle

Took 2012 Jayco 29FLDS back to dealer to have hubs (bearings) packed with grease and was told that when they pulled wheels, that they were missing the self-adjusters. They have contacted Dexter (axle manf.) but looks like they want to charge me for new adjusters as my warranty ran out last week. As wheels have never been off trailer, think they (Dexter) should have to provide missing parts.
Anyone else have problems with brakes/axles on Jayco trailers?

I would have had your Jayco dealer forward a warranty service claim through Jayco first (may overlook 1-week out of warranty), not Dexter. Also, not sure if Dexter (or Jayco) have an annual required brake inspection under their warranty terms....., but if condition compromises brake operation then it's a moot point.

This is the first that I have heard of any brake adjuster components missing from an axle......, but Dexter usually is pretty good to work with.

Bob

On Edit: What model year did Jayco incorporated "self-adjusting" brakes in lieu of manual adjusters? I believe it was rather recent (?).

Welcome to the forum. In some years not all models were equipped with the self adjusting brakes, for example in 2010 the Jayflghts did not but the higher priced G2 Jayflights did. Were self adjusting brakes standard equipment on the Whitehawks?

That may be where the dealer is making an incorrect assumption.

The Dexter brake assembly backplate may have provisions for what Jayco refers to as "Nev-R-Adjust" brakes, but this self-adjust feature appears to be 'model' specific (i.e.; Eagle, etc.) based on the Jayco 2014 brochure specifications (don't know about 2012).

welcome to the site
Not really sure about the issue...I would agree with Bob they should overlook a week over...
However makes me think when I get at 22 or 23 months I should take mine o the dealer for the once over...

I had this exact same problem on my Designer. The left rear adjuster mechanism was not in the wheel. I posted all of my detail here at the time. It was in June-July 2012 and was one month prior to my warranty expiring. I was away from my selling dealer and had a remote RV repair guy perform the repair. Dexter paid it all no question. I did report to my selling dealer who notified Jayco who notified Dexter. They never even questioned the need for the remote repair guy. I did report I was major concerned about towing with 25% of my trailer brakes not working and with 2/3 of what I did have on one side.

Look at my previous threads and you should find all of the detail.
