Question Scared to bits in Tampa and 2 questions

Help- Hubby still works FT in corporate job, I'm a city girl who is really allergic smelling hay. I have MS, use a wheelchair and losing vision. Decided to sell the home in upscale community with clubhouse & tons of amenities b/c of high fees and don't like area. Hoping to save $$ so he can retire and travel in the near future. Hubby says we need to get out now and see things while we can.

Ordering a Pinnacle 36FBTS (large bath) instead of a Northpoint 383FLFS (front living room) (same price)

What's the difference between those lines?
What size truck would you recommend? Hoping to get a used one.

Thanks for listening.

As far as a truck...

I'd get a 1 ton or better. Preferably diesel for that size unit.

I would suggest you look at a 1 Ton truck. When we got our Jayco I had to upgrade from a 3/4 ton to a 1 ton because the 3/4 ton truck would have been overloaded in the GVWR and Rear GAWR.
Both are heavy trailers and with factory installed options UVW probably will be 13,000+ lbs and dry hitch weight close to or over 3,000 lbs.
A single rear wheel would be sufficient. But if you're going to use the truck for only towing and you plan to do a lot of traveling, you may want to consider a dual-rear wheel. A DRW will give you more GVWR & GAWR and better stability when towing.
I agree with TWP723, a diesel would be better.

Also, I've never heard any RVer say "I wish I had a smaller tow vehicle"

I would also recommend that you upgrade the tires. Jayco now offers Goodyear G rated tire option.
This option is definitely worth the money. If you don't upgrade, there's a high probability that you'll be purchasing 4 new tires within a year or two.

Others here can comment better on the difference between the Pinnacle 36FBTS and Northpoint 383FLFS.

Good luck and hope this was of some help.

I'll let DH know. Hope he can find a good, no frills used one. With him working FT no big camping trips yet, more RV living.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum!!!

I am across Tampa Bay from you (Dunedin). DW and I love the Pinnacle with the Front Living Room... hopefully that will be our next one.

Go with a 1 Ton, I am not a desiel fan, but I would recommend a desiel for 2 reasons... First, you know that it will handle the load with no problems (mountains), secondly you can follow the trucks into the truck side of the truck stops to get desiel fuel and not have to worry if you can get in or out of the gas pump side.... a lot less stressful

Don

with the weight of either coach, 1 ton. I prefer the torque/puling power of diesel, especially puling any type grades.

I always think of online forums as the next best thing to sitting around a campfire and everyone talking and sharing. I thought his comment was funny and voiced what I thought when I read the original person's post. But then I have a sense of humor.

Just as relevant and necessary to the conversation as your post?

To the OP: you can find used 1 tons in the 7 to 8 year old range for 25k to 35k depending on mileage and condition. If you end up looking at an older diesel you my want to try to find an independent shop that can advise you on it. Lots of good ones in that age range but others that may require work.

Good luck, get out and enjoy.
