SO new we haven't even picked up our trailer yet!

So my husband and I bought a Jayco X18D from RVDirect and it's in Iowa. We're in AZ. Thankfully we home educate our three boys so we're road tripping in about two weeks to go get our bad boy. We're hoping within that time to convert my husband's mid-size truck to full-size.

We love having our boys discover nature and get out of the summer heat in Arizona. This is going to fabulous. Some of our best friends have the X17Z and we love theirs. We're SO excited to camp all the way home from Iowa. Staying with some friends in CO and then camping down in Utah of Highway 128 by the Colorado River. Gorgeous. Although if my husband is too worried to drive the hairpins on the way to Breckinridge, Pagosa Springs (my favorite place) is a super excellent second option.

Happy Trailering and so glad to be here!!

Kim

Congrats and welcome to the forum! That should be a really fun trip. I would recommend you look for somewhere close to RVD to stay the first night or so just to give it a good shake down and you can address any issues right away. Will be interested in hearing our your experience of going and picking it up with RVD goes.

Thank you Terry! I was just thinking the same thing about staying in town. So far, so terribly good with RV Direct. It's been a dream although I wish it were closer to pick up or even some interesting. Sorry Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska!

Warm (or should I say super AZ hot) regards,

Kim

We bought ours from RVD`s Albany facility and camped close by the first night. The whole transaction went very smoothly. Good luck on your voyage.

Kim, Congrats on the new Jayco and enjoy your travels. We just did the trek from Furnace AZ to MN in July. Which way do you plan on traveling? We took I40 and angled up on 54, first night we stayed at Ute Lake State Park, NM. We like to try out the state parks at states we are in to get a flavor of the state. We then made it to Liberal, KS and saw Dorothy and Toto's place and the land of OZ. DD wanted to see Dodge City KS so we did back track a little but she got her wish. Not much different than Tombstone would be. We like to show our DD as much as we can while we travel. We then merged with I35 and headed north through Iowa. We stayed in Osceola. IA at the Terribles Casino. If you go register inside to gamble and it will cost you nothing to stay there. Full hookups also. The casino campgrounds are inexpensive. Otherwise it was $10 if you don't register. If you have any question please feel free to email or PM me. Hope all goes well. Take care

Thank you, Mary Anne!

On the way to Iowa, sans trailer, we're going through OK to see family. But on the way home, we're going through Denver and through this tiny town called Bailey, up in the mountains to see friends. Then we go home through Breckenridge, Copper Mtn, Vail, Grand Junction and then down Hwy128 in Utah to Moab and through Monument Valley in AZ. It's a seriously beautiful drive. We did it last summer and hoped to camp someday along Hwy 128. It has the Colorado River meandering along it. Or vice versa.

I'm putting together my AAA trip plan and would love to see SOMETHING in Kansas. I try to plan our road trips around Trader Joe's but not so many in the central states.

Thanks so much for your input. I really appreciate it.

Kim

And thanks to everyone for such a warm welcome!!

Welcome to the Jayco Owners Forum Kim! We loved the summers we travelled the US with our kids back in the 90's. They still talk about what the saw that other kids only got to read about in books! We also were fortunate to make a road trip out of picking up our new tt two years ago. We drove to Middlebury to pick it up within a week of being built, and toured the factory also. We visited friends and relatives as well as camped at some or our favorite places along the route. Congrats!
