Smile Soon To Be A New Jayco Owner - Michigan

Hello, my family and I sold our 2007 Dutchman 28RGS last spring. After waiting too long to decide what model to replace it with, we decided to hold off on our purchase until this year.

With that said, we are extremely excited to report that we ordered a 2015/2016 Jayco Eagle 314BHDS yesterday in order to get our order in before the price increase that is supposed to be in place starting today (per dealer).

Our dealer (Trade Winds RV Center in Clio, MI) has been an absolute joy to work with. Our salesman, Tom (who is also the manager), has went above and beyond what I expected in terms of steering us in the direction of a product that fits our needs all the while being patient while we made up our mind (since last year mind you). It would also be irresponsible for me not to mention that he was able to give us one heck of a deal as far as I'm concerned (32% less than MSRP along with a portable TRC 30 amp LED surge guard thrown in). In the end, the list of options include the following:
  • customer value package with 15K BTU A/C
  • premier package
  • 40" television
  • solid surface kitchen countertops
  • hide a bed
  • electric tongue jack
  • bike rack/cargo tray
  • roof ladder
  • back up camera
  • slam latch upgrade on outdoor kitchen door - to match the rest of the trailer (not sure why they don't already come with these)
With the timing of our order, our dealer is stating that there is a chance that it may come in as a 2016MY but it all depends on where it lands on Jayco's build schedule.

With two growing boys, this trailer should last us a long while - my wife loves the idea of them having their own "space" in terms of the bunkhouse while having ample room for their friends and cousins. I am hopeful that we get the Jayco quality that the name has come to be known for.

In terms of a hitch, can anyone offer any suggestions? We had a 12,000lb trunnion bar Reese dual cam that I sold with our Dutchman. I loved the way the hitch performed and I am seriously thinking about buying the same unit or perhaps stepping up the 15,000lb trunnion bar setup (the GVWR of the Eagle is right at 10,000lb).

We are looking forward to being part of your Jayco family!

Clayton-

I agree with you. I searched all of the state and kept coming back to Trade Winds. The folks at Hamilton's RV in Saginaw were able to match the price but we had been working with Tom at Trade Winds for so long we felt that he deserved our business.

Congratulations on your new trailer and welcome to the forum.

If you were pleased with the Reese, staying with that brand seems like a good idea.

With little to no updates from dealer, I finally broke down and called them. My dealer has informed me that our Eagle 314BHDS will be a 2016 model year. We are excited but at the same time a bit apprehensive given the fact that there are no pictures of the changes that Jayco has made for the 2016MY.
