steelman

Hi, this is the first forum i have ever used. Just bought a Greyhawk 30 GS. In advance, please excuse any faux pas I may make while using the forum. I' curious as to whether the single roof air is adequate for my RV
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome steelman....hopefully someone with a similar model can answer your question. Your in a moderate summer zone so I would think you'll be OK.

Re: steelman

Welcome to the JOF. And where do you do most of your camping? Single ac will most likely serve you well.

Welcome to Jayco Owners Forum, steelman. The single a/c will, or should keep you comfortable but you will never be able to "hang meat" in the camper on a 100 degree day. There are a few tricks to help keep you cool though, such as turning the unit on in the morning hours to start to cool the interior early and adjusting the thermostat as the day progresses rather than waiting to turn the unit on when the outside temps get hot. Another trick is the use of small box fans which will keep the air circulating around in the camper. A shady camp space always helps as well. I camp in 105 degree Texas heat and manage to stay pretty comfortable using these tricks.

We plan to spend at least three or four days in the driveway testing everything out and getting familiar with the systems. Will certainly check out A/C unit operation and all othe stuff.

That certainly is the best way to learn the new trailers... Setup in CAMP BACKYARD... I tried to simulate camping just like I do at camp grounds - really helps on what support thing to buy and how best to stock the trailer.

I have got two or three projects I need to look at this season on my OFF-ROAD POPUP. I kinda of waiting for the bad storms we are still getting hit with here to slow down some. Of course if I wait too long then I will have to start worrying about the Hurricanes coming in...

My battery system is going on six years old so want to plan a new idea for setups here supporting two banks maybe one in the trailer and one in the bed of the truck. Another project is to look into removing my hated propane furnace and retrofitting a hydronic hot water heating system. I'm always looking at better way to operate my Ham Radio out in the woods so different ideas on Antennas is always on-going.

Great idea to get a CAMP BACKYARD area setup to play with different things you will want to do at home around the workshop. I also have a close by state park at Westmoreland State Park where I can camp at either electric sites or no hook ups at all. This is only 25 miles away for us so its perfect to make some dry runs when I am testing out some things I have completed...

I'm thinking this year is going to be alot of local storms knocking out power here at the house so I want to make sure my off the grid camping system are up to par to support those week long no power at the house routines. Last couple of years i seem to do good for about three days then I run out of gasoline and no where to go get any since the whole county is usually out of power. Having my trailer around sure has saved the days here at the house big time the last couple of bad weather seasons. Another good reason for a working CAMP BACKYARD..

We had a cookout and watched HDTV off my OTA antenna setup with neighbors coming over all time every night during last years power outages...
