Warranty charges!!

Hi All
I'm a new member and trying to get answers from Jayco for charges to myself for warranty repairs. Jayco seems to agree with the dealer that he can charge whatever they want to do warranty work.

For example I was charged $250.00 for a warranty authorized repair to my awning.

2013 26 ft Jayco trailer.

Thanks
Shell

You need to tell us a lot more to get an opinion.

Is this what the dealer is charging you and expecting you to get reimbursement from Jayco? If so, I happen to know that is not unheard of, the selling dealer where we bought our first trailer had a sign in the service writers office indicating any service performed on RVs not originally sold by them would be charged at full shop rates to the customer less any money received from warranty or insurance claims.

I questioned them and said they could no longer afford to perform warranty work at the rates provided by manufactures (not specific to Jayco) but would for customers purchasing for them since they include "margin" in that transaction to offset any potential warranty work down the road.

Interesting thread. I have never been charged anything for warranty repairs and I have had some extensive repairs on this last brand new unit. But of course, I have always had my warranty work done at the dealership where I purchased my units from.

That is probably justified since most dealers service depts take 2-3 times longer to make a repair than necessary. If it can be done in an hour figure a 2-3 hr charge and I am talking from experience.

I will be taking my camper in for repairs soon. I am taking it to a dealer I did not purchase it from. I called to ask about this. They said as long as it isn't customer damage, it will be covered by warranty and I will not be charged.

Exactly the way it should be IMO. To me it seems like RV warranty should work exactly like automobile warranty -- but based on stories I have read on the forums and the note I saw a couple years ago it seems like confirming in advance might become more of the norm.

Fortunately, and unfortunately, I no longer have a TT covered by warranty.
