We're out of the tent!
Happy Sunday everyone! After months of internet research, rv lot visits, rv shows and some interesting craigslist encounters we are the proud owners of a 2012 Jay Flight Swift SLX 145 RB. It was one of those deals that having cash on hand and a motivated seller made the waiting worthwhile. So, so long air mattress and hello memory foam topper!
As you can see from my subj line we are not new to camping but are definitely newbs to anything RV related. A month ago terms like black/grey tanks (drain in that order!), low point drain valve, hot water heater bypass, atwood, norcold, 3 way fridg, city water fill, 12 volt water pump, 30 to 50, 30 to 15 adaptors, etc, etc rarely crossed my mind. Thankfully I had found this site early in our research so between the faq’s and massive amount of shared knowledge I definitely went in better armed than I was 3 mos ago so my thanks for that.
It’s just me and the fiancé and the majority of our camping will be done her in the SW at some our fav spots so the baby SLX fits the majority of our needs. We’ve been like little kids w a new toy since we brought it home 2 weeks ago. The axle’s been flipped, the fiancé repacked our camping gear in space friendly bins, added some magnets to keep screen door flush against frame, and sanitized the fresh water system. The TT had only been used for four trips by the original owner so there wasn’t a lot wrong with it. Have mostly been checking for “non-use” issues and so far so good.
Anyway just wanted to introduce ourselves and thank this forum once again for the wealth of information. We are breaking the TT in next Fri and we feel like we’re kids again waiting for Christmas morning!
Have a good one
GP

I just bought the Baja Edition of the 145RB. Looking forward to exploring the Great Southwest with this behind our Jeep...

I'm used to towing boats and was shocked how light the 145RB felt behind our Grand Cherokee. Forgot how quick lighter trailers turn when backing up. Just kept repeating the grandpa taught mantra "hands on bottom, trailer goes where hand goes"

Being avid TENT CAMPERs from the 60s and 70s while living in the Phoenix AZ area and up into 2008 when we got our first OFF-ROAD higher up POPUP trailer.
We continue to be tent campers to this day haha... Most of our camping of course is using our OFF-ROAD POPUP trailer but we certainly still love to TENT camp on the ground way back off the beaten forest service road next to a stream somewhere. Alot of times have both the POPUP trailer and the TENT camp setup at same camping site.
Tent Camping goes along with camping off the power grid which we still enjoy the most.
I would not give up all your tent camping items - They come in handy big time for us...
There is just the two of us in our retirement years and when grandkids come along with us they always want to setup in the tents. They would even pick the top of the picnic table in a sleeping bay over sleeping in the trailer setup.
I still have my two three room tent setups and all the stuff that goes with them.

Welcome to the forum, good to see another 145RB. It is a bit small, but lovely to have all the 'glamping' amenities for sure!
Keep an eye on your A/C drainage around the window, I haven't had any issues, but sure have read some on here and keep my eye on it.
Let me know if you do any renos!
