By the Numbers

Having trouble reading ANY posts/threads. I click on the thread, and Instead of getting readable print, I get numbers and the poster's name, etc. Has anyone else reported this problem? Are you in the process of doing some maintenance that is causing this? Or have I got a problem with my computer?

By your quote, may I assume you're using a PC and not a mobile device?

Can you post again and provide us a sample of what you're seeing?

We need as much information you can provide as possible in order to help us resolve your problem.

Thanks!

Could your style have accidentally been switched to mobile? That will make things display in an abbreviated format. Check the bottom left corner of the web page. If it's mobile, click on "View Full Site" to change it back.

By the numbers - continued

As a follow-up to my earlier post, it seems that no matter what thread I click on, all I can get is "Count to a Trillion". That's why I'm getting the numbers. I tried logging out and re-logging in, but still get the same thing. Since I can't view anything else, could someone please send me a private Email letting me know how to correct this?

Thanks in advance!

I guess Brownie's latest post confirms that he is able to create a post, but can't see the replies (questions).

I sent him a message asking if he had preformed any recent "updates" to his PC, and if the JOF website was the only problem. Also inquired if he tried a "system restore" back to a date prior to the problem.

I forwarded 'FPM_III" responses as well.

Thanks, Bob, to you and to all other concerned parties. I sent Brownie an email as he should be able to see that unless my email is treated as junk. Waiting now for a reply.

By the numbers update

A special note to the Moderators,

Haven't been on in a while, since it's not very interesting looking at numbers . . . no matter which tread I'd click on. Finally realized it was a page of "Count to a Trillion" I was seeing, and that it must be the result of either a computer virus or my anti-virus software.

About two weeks ago, I was working at my laptop on the dinette table. I opened the door of one of the cabinets over the dinette, and my electric mixer fell out . . . right onto the middle of my laptop. TOTALLY FRIED IT! At that I could get on it was a message that said "No Operating System Found". So, I bought a new laptop with a different anti-virus provider, and thought I'd give The Forum another test drive. I'm now able to read all threads, but only when the viewing mode is set on "Linear Mode". If I switch to "Hybrid Mode" (my preferred viewing mode) or "Threaded Mode" I only get the page from "Count to a Trillion". I've come to the conclusion that this is a problem on The Forum's end; not my end. Evidently, you made some sort of change about 5 or 6 weekly ago that resulted in this "glitch". Hope you can use this info to narrow things down and (hopefully) correct it. Until then, at least I can continue enjoying my visits here in "Linear Mode".

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. It's set on "Jayco Owners". Thanks for the advice.

Thanks, Brownie!

The the information you provided contained the "Piece of the puzzle" I needed to diagnose and determine where the problem was. Using it, I was able to duplicate your problem by setting my own Thread Display Option to "Hybrid".

On another forum, iRV2.com, the "Hybrid" option worked "as advertised", which leads me to believe the problem is unique to JOF.

My tests indicate there's definitely something wrong with the "Hybrid" Thread Display Option on JOF and I recommend that users avoid using it until a solution is found.

I have sent a message to the Forum Administrator and notified the the Site Team about this issue.

You might try changing your display options as follows:

Under edit options in your profile: https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/p...do=editoptions

Change the Message Editor Interface: (scroll down the page to find this) to standard.

Be sure to save at the bottom of the page. then refresh and see if that helps.

My Message Editor Interface was already set to Standard, However, to be thorough, I tried setting it to Basic and Advanced and using Hybrid in the Thread Display Option. Neither setting would work. No matter what forum or thread I select, I'm taken to the first page of posts in the "Count to 1 Trillion- OFF Topics and Hijacks Welcomed!!!" thread of the "Campfire Chat" Forum.

The behavior appears to be similar to some malicious code placed in vBbulletin by a hacker or a modification made to vBulletin that contained a programming error.

On iRV2.com, my Message Editor Interface is set to Advanced and when I change my Thread Display Option to Hybrid, it works.

I checked the release/version of vBulletin on iRV2 and JOF. They were the same.
