Bypass valve

Is this an easy fix? Small pin hole in top of this valve

Michelemarie,

Welcome to JOF

If your RV is still under warranty your dealer can install a new valve. But, if your RV is out of warranty there are a couple different ways to replace the leaking plastic valve.

Anytime a plastic valve becomes an issue in my TT's I replace them with a metal valve when possible......., and in most cases utilizing SharkBite push-to-connect fittings compatible with the 1/2" PEX plastic hose. SharkBite connection fittings eliminate the need for special PEX crimping tools. Lowes, Home Depot, or a local hardware are a good source for PEX plumbing fixes.

Thank you so much, is there a special tool to use to get the existing clamps off?

Warranty or not I would just buy a Shark Bite valve and replace it myself, you will waste so much time hauling to the dealer for warranty. Just use a regular tip screwdriver and pry the clamp loose or if there seems to be enough tubing just cut it out.

Shark Bites are great! We used them on our bathroom remodel. In Oregon you can install them with no access. We had everything inspected before we closed the wall. (Yes, the building permit thing.) I will use them in the camp trailer if we ever need them. The only special tool for Shark Bites is a "C" shaped piece of plastic to use if you want to remove the Shark Bite. If it happened that you cut a water line too short. The tool disengages the Shark Bite teeth so you can use the fitting over again.

If you get a chance post a pic of your fix for future JOF viewing reference.
