Emailing social group members

Is there a way to email all members of a social group?

Do they see posts made within the social page itself, or do they need to do something to be ' pushed ' threads posted there?

Assuming they are subscribed to the group they should be getting notifications of any updates to discussions.

"' subscribed "' as is just signed up? Or do they need to do something else.

I can see that there are now 5 members in the group. Is that what you mean?

There is an option in the top right corner of each Social group discussion thread to subscribe to that topic. Look for the small arrow....

Or on the group page there is something called Group Tools. Click that and you can get a daily or weekly email

How do you recommend Social Groups get visibility? Do their posts show-up along with the regular "recent threads"? How do we 'advertise' and get subscribers? Thanks in advance for the info; I just created a Social Group dedicated to combining RV-ing and Genealogy.

I checked with this forum and individuals that are familiar vBulletin software and they said that any searches done outside the COMMUNITY will not display any information that is within the COMMUNITY. They are treated separately. (mine is RVing with SOLAR) . It would be nice if the JAYCOOWNERS system administrator would approach vBulletin and request an enhancement that could be system administrator controlled that would allow for the COMMUNITY and regular forum POSTS to talk to each other in a search, and any new COMMUNITY posts would appear in the RECENT/NEW posts lists.

The only way to make public your community is to create a new FORUM POST thread and ADVERTISE your community there. I guess it is about time for me to do mine again.

Just my thoughts,

Don

Hmmm, I'm going to create/start a new thread in GENERAL JAYCO RV CHAT titled "Social Groups - Learn More, Subscribe Now!"
http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f1...tml#post289212
This would accommodate all Social Groups, we could periodically "advertise" in this thread, and it would be a thread/tool ALL of the Social Group moderators could use. I hope we can all use this to bring awareness!

Meanwhile, your group sounds interesting - I'm going to subscribe!

I also put tags in my post about the two groups I just created. At least if anyone searches on one of those topics the post should come up with the link to the groups.

I tried tags, and they did not go across the FORUM POSTS/COMMUNITY line either. Unless they changed it they are both independent of each other.

Wouldn't it be cool if on the JOF Home page where the "Random Album Picture" appears, that also the images for the various "Social Groups" also appear? IMHO, Social Groups are much more interactive with the members than viewing the lovely albums of pictures (that I also enjoy).

As moderator of 'Colorado Social', I send out occasional thread to main section for a few days, but it would be nice to get better exposure

Do hope you notice we now have a new general thread titled Social Groups - Learn More, Subscribe Now for drawing attention to goups of special interest. I think there are now more than 50 Social Groups and if ALL moderators would periodically (monthly) do a posting to this thread, more site visitors would see it and become aware of the COMMUNITY section of JOF.

Another 'hint' for exposure ... include into your signature something that notes you are a moderator of a special interest; sure wish we could attach a hyperlink to our group into the signature, but no such luck!

To clarify, I put tags in my forum post advertising the groups. So if someone searches in the forum for CALIFORNIA or X254 then that post should come up with the links to the groups.

I also put tags in the group itself so if someone searches in the groups they should come up there.
